ORG SITES WEB HOSTING IS FREE SO THERE ARE LIMITATIONS. In order to maximize our annual donation to ASIS, we originally choose to use a free web hosting service. Back in those "old days" hosting was costlier than it is today. Org Sites remains free to non-profits but there are limits as to the HTML code and styles you can use. Our site was originally setup using the only available display, 640x480 (which now cannot be modified) and is why you see a grey bar to the right of your screen. A small inconvenience for larger ASIS donations! We are working to migrate the site and have been testing other hosts and styles to update our web presence. Until then, this remains our preferred host.

SAFETY Act Designation

The Standards and Guidelines Program of ASIS International has received a Designation award under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act of 2002 (the SAFETY Act) from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Specifically, the SAFETY Act designation limits ASIS' liability for acts arising out of the use of the guidelines in connection with an act of terrorism and precludes claims of third party damages against organizations using the guidelines as a means to prevent or limit the scope of terrorist acts.

ANSI Accreditation

ASIS INTERNATIONAL has been awarded accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the U.S. member for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This endorsement confirms that ASISs certification programs adhere to the highest professional standards. The accreditation that the certification programs have been awarded, known as ISO/IEC 17024, is a global, voluntary standard for organizations responsible for certification of personnel. It is a means of ensuring that certified personnel meet the published requirements of a given certification program.

Chapter Musings

The January 2015 Meeting featured a discussion on Operational Security by Chapter Member Mr. Andy Norman, CPP. Andy took a differing slant on the traditional OPSEC briefing by detailing, using video clips and photos, security surrounding the Allied invasion of Europe, 6 Jun 1944. D-Day was a massive planning and training exercise leading up to the landings in Normandy that included a myriad of security concerns in combination with a deception campaign. Thanks to Andy for a great discussion!
