Issues & Concerns HOUSE NUMBERS
Make sure your HOUSE NUMBER is CLEARLY visible from the street -- either on the house or on the curb. SECONDS COUNT when emergency services are trying to find your house. The life you save could be your own!
EXTERIOR HOUSEKEEPING CONCERNS
Nothing makes our neighborhood look "junky" faster than not keeping the exteriors of homes neat and tidy. Contributors to a junky look include:
* Not bringing garbage cans out of PUBLIC VIEW after trash collection. Trash and recycling bins should be stored out of PUBLIC VIEW; not in the front of your house, or left at the curb.
* Not picking up litter and debris from your curb. If it's in front of your house, it's your mess. Please clean it up.
* Not keeping your lawn mowed. Please mow your lawn regularly. Grass can not be over 10 inches.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Please do not park cars across the public sidewalk. We'd like to encourage our children and others to use the sidewalks, but that's hard to do when sidewalks are made impassable by your car.
DEED RESTRICTIONS Are you aware that at least some of our collective neighborhood is governed by deed restrictions? Many of us were unaware. It is the seller's responsibility to make potential buyers aware of these - and many folks who bought houses here were never made aware. For those of us who appreciate any and all efforts to preserve our property values, the deed restrictions are actually a "good thing". They can help us prevent negative things from creeping in to the neighborhood. BPCL does have DEED RESTRICTIONS listed below. Click on area you live in to view the restrictions you have. UPDATE!
Woods at Grey Friars and Grey Friars The woods behind the homes on the east side of the 1900 block of Grey Friars Chase have been a haven for kids and crooks to hide and make themselves unwelcome. The civic league has untertaken an effort with the city to mow the area to make it easier to be seen from the street and also to erect a fence to discourage people from straying into the area. UPDATE: The city has erected a fence around this area. |
