One of The Largest Lions Club in Virginia !

May 2008 was the second time in the history of MD 24 that the State Convention had been held west of Roanoke. We appreciate all our area club members who helped us make this 2008 convention productive and successful!

What Is Lionism?

Who are the Lions?
Lions Club International was founded in 1917 by a young insurance salesman named Melvin Jones. The Lions remained without a unified focus until the 1925 International Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio when the keynote speaker, Helen Keller, delivered an inspirational speech changing the direction of Lionism forever. After this speech, Lions were compelled to adopt the cause of blindness and vision related activites.

Let’s say a special prayer for our military men and women while they are deployed to Iraq. May God Bless them and look over them and their family’s and protect them during their separation from each other.

If you work at a local industry and would like to purchase brooms from us, please let us know. We need to increase our Commercial Broom sales and need your help to do this. Help make BHLC the greatest civic organization in Bristol!

If you have email and are not currently getting the Bristol Host Lions Newsletter sent each week, please send an email to Lion Dr. Jim Messimer at drjem@btes.tv

Leo Clubs
The Leo Clubs are intended to educate young people in area high schools on the benefits of community service through Lionism. If you want more info on starting a Leo Club in the area call or email us.

For more information about Leo Clubs: Click here

Lioness Clubs
Lioness Clubs are formed for women who want to serve with the Lions, but would rather be part of a group of women who have the same goals and vision as the Lions Clubs. They bring their own special talents and motivation to their service as a Lioness. E-mail us for more information about Lioness Clubs.
