Whether you're just starting, or are already fairly proficient in French, there's always more to learn and a plethora of ways to go about it. Please don't hesitate to let me know of your needs, interests, and discoveries so that we can make this experience as productive and rewarding as possible. Allons-y!
French I materials: "Discovering French Bleu" text and workbook, notebook, folder for handouts
French I syllabus salle 503 Mme. Schill année 2008-9 Initial materials: at least one good ear, the willingness to repeat a lot, no matter how silly you may think you (or I) sound, and an OPEN MIND. GHS materials: “Discovering French: Bleu” – text & activity book Other materials: a cover for the textbook, a designated notebook for French, a folder to keep handouts handy, and a French-English dictionary for home use Homework (aka “devoir”): assigned EVERY DAY, due for the FOLLOWING CLASS, unless otherwise stated; full credit (3-10 points according to the task required) recorded regularly for work that is on time, and complete without the appearance of being rushed Testing: weekly quizzes and a 4-chapter test after every 4 lessons, occasional short oral presentations Class participation: counts as 25% of the grade, observed daily, recorded weekly (Make every moment count!) Grading: tests and quizzes 50%, homework and participation 50% Extra Help! Do not hesitate to see me after school, or even during lunch! Also, if you just want more contact with the subject, or a different focus, I can direct you to the many helpful on-line resources that are available. Advice: Be responsible for whatever you may miss for whatever the reason – Don’t walk into class thinking you have a good excuse for not being prepared! Check the website to keep up with assignments in case you have to miss a class. We are about to begin learning a LIVING language – the more lively your involvement in the process, the more you will learn, and the more enjoyable it will be! ALLONS-Y!!
