Center for Adoption Support and Education Spring Workshops

Workshops at International Adoption Center at Inova Fairfax Hospital

Join us for our continuing International Adoption Parenting classes. Meet with other families and our staff as we assist future or current parents of internationally adopted children in the task of becoming a family.

Pre-Adoption Parenting Class

Dates: September 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 -- 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.

Classes focus on the unique needs of the recently adopted child from birth to age 4 years. Topics include an overview of ways the internationally adopted child differs from children born and raised in the United States; Medical issues that you may encounter; Attachment, family transition; Nutrition; Speech and language development; Gross and fine motor development; Behaviors and positive discipline; Safety; General baby and child care; Travel tips.

Step into Fabergé’s Workshop and create a decorative picture frame — in the style of imperial Russia’s legendary jeweler — perfect for displaying summer family photos. Tours of the Mansion, Café dining, and shopping are also part of this special Sunday opening.

Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church Russian Festival - October 17, 18, 19

Place:Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church
East Baltimore at 1723 East Fairmount Avenue
(This is one block east of Broadway between Fells Point and The Johns Hopkins Hospital.)
Dates:October 17, 18, 19
Time:noon to 9 pm on Friday and Saturday
noon to 6 pm on Sunday

Come visit this Russian Festival!
The festival is under cover of a huge circus-style tent with sidewalls, plus in the hall of the church.

Some of the food,activities, and entertainment at the festival include:

Homemade Russian Breads - Hoska, Kulich, Makovy Roulet, Bobka, Vishnovaya Bobka, Shokoladnaya Bobka, Rzhanoy, Karavai
Russian Tea Room with Samovar

Free parking is available across the street in the Kennedy Krieger Institute parking garage. It is easiest to enter the parking facility from the 1700 block of East Fayette Street, one block north of the festival.

Admission is $2.00 on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free on Friday
