Baltimore Russian Festival - Oct 16-18
Date: Friday Oct 16, Saturday Oct 17, Sunday Oct 18 From the website - During this festive weekend, we invite you to sample the many foods, souvenirs and entertainment offered at our Russian Festival. All of the food – ranging from the hot dishes and breads to the many desserts – was prepared by our own parishioners. Most of the souvenirs have been imported from Russia. Beautiful icons fashioned by the faithful in Russia, dolls, pins, paintings are just some of the beautiful expressions of faith and love witnessed today in Holy Rus’. And the entertainment – dance groups, choirs and music ensembles – we hope will make your feet tap and your hearts sing. For complete schedule and directions go to Russian Festival.
"Peter and the Wolf" - Oct 22-24
Date: Thursday, October 22 & Friday, October 23 Set to both contemporary and classical music, this charming musical brings to life an old favorite. The duck, the bird, and the cat join Peter and his grandfather to outsmart a wily wolf in this familiar cautionary tale presented by Childsplay.
Recommended for grades K-4

Russian Winter Festival- December 12-13
What: Russian Winter Festival Celebrate the holidays at Hillwood in Old Russian style! Meet Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden and enjoy festive music and entertainment. Children create their very own kokoshnik (lady's headdress) or gentleman's hat like those worn by Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden. Seasonal gifts line the shelves of the Museum Shop and the Café offers festive treats. Preschool Classes at Hillwood Hillwood Museum and Gardens in Washington, DC is starting a preschool series—classes for children ages 2-5 with an accompanying adult.
Session 1: Searching for Sculpture In this 3-part series, young children and their adult companions discover animals and other fanciful creatures in the sculpture throughout Hillwood's gardens. Each hour-long class includes a different garden exploration, art project, songs, and more!
Session 2: Kings and Queens at Hillwood In this 3-part series, young children and their adult companions enter the glamorous world of kings and queens as they prepare for a royal ball, discover treasures, and enjoy a special feast. Each hour-long class includes exploration of a different room in the Mansion, an art project, songs, and more! Each session is limited to 10 children (ages 2-5) with one accompanying adult. Cost: $60 Public, $55 Member The classes are not specifically Russian-themed, but the November class (Kings and Queens at Hillwood) will look at portraits of the Tsars and Tsarinas, the Boyar Wedding painting, and several other Russian art objects. Meet with other families and our staff as we assist future or current parents of internationally adopted children in the task of becoming a family. Pre-Adoption Parenting Class Classes focus on the unique needs of the recently adopted child from birth to age 4 years.
