The season of spring and Easter are upon us once more. We all can't wait for the warmer weather. We can't wait for the daffodils to start popping up and the birds to begin chirping all through the day. it's a time of fresh beginnings and you can feel it in the air.

It was a time for fresh beginnings when Jesus died for us on the cross. God had decided that the old ways didn't cut it anymore and it was time for a new start. He wanted His children back. He wanted to be able to spend all eternity with the ones He loved. For those who have faith and believe that Jesus died for us and our sins, it is possible. If we only believe in Him and confess Him with our mouths, we shall have eternal life.
(John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:9&10 - If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thy heart that God hath raised Him from the dead: thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.)

These are the verses of a promised new life for anyone who wants it. To believe these words in your heart and to confess theme (speak them out) of your mouth is the way that you get to spend eternity with God. (The alternative is not so good.:( ) Our heavenly Father wants to be with you forever. He wants you to know and experience His Goodness and His Love. He wants you to live the way He originally designed your life to be. He sent His One and Only Begotten Son to die for us on the cross, so you could be part of His Family forever. God wants you to have a fresh new start.

Sometimes we need to have a new beginning on a really bad day. Every morning can be a fresh start, if we let it. However, it's not always easy to stay refreshed and new all through the day. It's what the bible calls "Renewing the Mind."

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

We need to put new things in our mind, when the world wants to only give us leftovers. This is a choice on our parts. We must choose to think differently. We must choose the right way. It's your decision to renew your mind - nobody else can do it for you.

Can you choose to renew your mind? Do you even want to? Sometimes it's easier to do the easy thing and feel bad. It doesn't take any effort to speak negatively and have a pity party for ourselves. The devil makes it quite easy for us and he certainly gives us many opportunities to practice. BUT - Can you do something different from everyone else? Can you live life the right way and renew your mind when something difficult comes along?

It won't be easy at first, but it will get better the more you do it. It's true - practice makes perfect. To help you out, there are some guidelines posted for you to make things easier. The Bible is full of ways to help you live your life the right way. It's the way that God intended for you to live. Try it out and see if you don't notice a difference in your life. You will also see a difference in those around you as well.

To help you to renew your mind, there are some guidelines you can follow. These guidelines will also help your relationship with God to grow much stronger. Studying the Word of God on a regular basis gives your mind and your heart something to hold onto through the good and bad times.

The 7 "R's"

RELAX - Wait on God. Take a few minutes to set everything else aside and focus on listening to God.

REQUEST - Pray briefly. Ask God to meet you in the time there and to open your eyes to His Word, and give you strength for what you need.

READ - Select a portion of God's Word. Work your way through a specific Bible book or last Sunday's sermon. Pick a passage.

REFLECT & REMEMBER - Memorize and meditate on the passage you have studied. Take time to think about it. Let it sink into your heart and let it become part of you. Apply it to your situation.

RECORD - Write down what God has given you. It could be a Bible verse or it could be a direct word from Him. Write it down - whatever it is.

REQUEST - Enjoy a time of prayer with God. Do some serious praying now about what God hss shared with you or what is on your heart. He is always there and always listening. Take the time to be there for HIM.

This may seem like a lot of work, but it will get easier as the times pass. You'll be surprised how much you can't wait to have time alone with God. It will be much easier for you to renew your mind, when you have something to renew it with.
