The Tri-City Chapter meets the first Tuesday of each month.
Chartered twenty-eight years ago, we are a part of The International Association of Administration Professionals (IAAP®)

The International Association of Administration Professionals (IAAP®)  is the world’s leading organization for administrative assistants, executive secretaries, office coordinators, office managers, and other related office professionals. The Tri-City Chapter, which includes the cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and the surrounding counties, meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Monthly meetings consist of an educational presentation, networking, and a short business meeting. Special events such as a dinner to honor our executives, a professional development seminar and an Administrative Professional Week banquet, etc. are held throughout the year.

IAAP Objective

To elevate the standards of all administrative professions and to promote their working relationships with management through continuing education, authorized programs, and publications.

  • Our Vision: To inspire and equip all administrative professionals to attain excellence.

  • Our Mission: To be the acknowledged, recognized leaders of administrative professionals and to enhance their individual and collective value, competence, and influence.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It has been FUN this year learning so much about members of the Tri-City Chapter of IAAP. 2008-2009 is over and it is time for the new year to begin. International has declared the new theme for 2009-2010, “Power of Commitment.” Tri-City members should have no problem with this, since they are the most committed members. When your new president, Amber Cary, approaches you for a new commitment, say yes. If members keep up the good work only good things will happen. It has been an honor to serve as your 2008-2009 President.

Your 2008-2009 Tri-City Chapter
IAAP President
Mary B. Schrum CPS

      2009 MEMBER OF THE YEAR

President - Mary B. Schrum CPS

"It was an honor to receive the Member of the Year award. There were many others who de-served the recognition; however, I was glad to serve you."

Congratulations to our members who sat for the CPS/CAP exams & certifications and passed!

    • Linda Coake CPS/CAP
    • Linda Wells CPS/CAP
    • Denise Owen CPS
    • Juanita Wolfe-Cersley CPS/CAP
    • Hollie Ronkartz CAP
    • Melody Day CPS/CAP
    • Carol Blair CPS

Not only do those who are certified as CPS and/or CAP work hard to earn the recertification points over the five-year period, there is a lot of work to organize the documentation required and get it ready for submission. Good luck, to everyone!

If you have questions about how you too can achieve this wonderful goal, feel free to contact Linda Wells CPS/CAP, Certification Chair.

      Great Job Everyone!
      We are proud of you!

      June is National Safety Month

The National Safety Council (NSC) traditionally hosts National Safety Month every June to promote safety throughout the country, and this year's observances target the most significant reasons for unintentional deaths at home, in the workplace, and on the road, with the week of 2-6 June specifically set aside to encourage emergency preparedness messaging.

"Calendar observances like National Safety Month are great vehicles for enhancing public awareness on the importance of personal preparedness, 72-hour emergency kits, and family disaster planning. In the Pacific Northwest, the spring and summer months herald increased risks for thunderstorms, wildfire and flash flooding, and now is the time to plan how to respond when disaster strikes," said Reinertson. "A good place to start is by downloading our Are You Ready? In-depth guide to Citizen Preparedness from www.ready.gov or visit FEMA's homepage at www.fema.gov. It's our most comprehensive source on individual, family, and community preparedness."

The Are You Ready citizen's guide is also available from FEMA's publications warehouse by calling (800) 480-2520. For more information on this year's National Safety Month messaging, visit: www.nsc.org/nsm.
