The Tri-City Chapter meets the first Tuesday of each month.

The Tri-City Chapter meets the first Tuesday of each month.
Chartered twenty-eight years ago, we are a part of The International Association of Administration Professionals (IAAP®)

The International Association of Administration Professionals (IAAP®)  is the world’s leading organization for administrative assistants, executive secretaries, office coordinators, office managers, and other related office professionals. The Tri-City Chapter, which includes the cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and the surrounding counties, meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Monthly meetings consist of an educational presentation, networking, and a short business meeting. Special events such as a dinner to honor our executives, a professional development seminar and an Administrative Professional Week banquet, etc. are held throughout the year.

IAAP Objective

To elevate the standards of all administrative professions and to promote their working relationships with management through continuing education, authorized programs, and publications.

  • Our Vision: To inspire and equip all administrative professionals to attain excellence.

  • Our Mission: To be the acknowledged, recognized leaders of administrative professionals and to enhance their individual and collective value, competence, and influence.

  • Our Purpose: To provide education and training, and set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

What I want to offer you as your new president is a chance to allow yourself to shine. As you know me, I decided not to take advantage of using the “ready made” International theme. Your theme for the year is a combination of Teresa Henderson's, Virginia-West Virginia Division President’s theme, C + B = A (Conceive + Believe = Achieve) combined with the International theme - Excellence in Action: Fundamentals of Excellence, with the accent on FUN. “F” for find your gift, “U” for use it, and “N” for never say never. Of course we will always have FUN when we attend our IAAP meetings and events, that is a given. However, when we use the gift that we have and find out how wonderful it feels everyone will benefit. So go ahead, never say, “I could never do that in a million years!” Just say yes – chair that committee, work on that project, and let’s have an extremely productive year!

Your 2008-2009 Tri-City Chapter
IAAP President
Mary B. Schrum CPS

From Melody Day CPS/CAP & Linda Wells, Ways & Means Co-Chairs

    2008 MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Judith Proper, the 2008 Member of the Year!

She is a hard working and dedicated individual, with amazing skills.

Some of her fellow chapter members had this to say about her: “She is an IAAP ambassador, sharing information about Tri-City Chapter with a huge number of coworkers, encourages fellow members, supporting them as they grow in their professionalism.” “She is a hard worker and believes in the core values of our organization, and has contributed enormously to the Chapter, helping to coordinate special events, providing program ideas and securing speakers.” “Her hard work and dedication to the Tri-City chapter this year provided a model way to Move the chapter forward through professionalism, education and mentoring.” I personally have viewed her as an outstanding role model as I have started my administrative career.

I was truly honored and excited to present the award to Judith. Keep up the great work!

Thanks to all those members who submitted nominations

-Amber Cary, 2007 Member of the Year

Congratulations to Linda Wells CPS and Denise Owen CPS for achieving their certification!

After a lot of hard work, and a tough exam, Linda and Denise are our newest CPS! Great Job ladies
    We are proud of you!

Congratulations to Juanita Wolfe-Cersley CPS/CAP who was notified by International that she had met the criteria for recertification for a five-year period. Juanita will have to recertify one more time before retiring!

Congratulations to Hollie Ronkartz CAP, who was recently notified that she met the criteria to be recertified as a Certified Administrative Professional. Hollie, we are proud of you!

Congratulations to Melody Day CPS/CAP who just found out that she passed the November CAP exam and was recertified as a CPS, as well!

Congratulations to Carol Blair CPS, who was recently notified that she met the criteria to be recertified as a Certified Professional Secretary. We are proud of you!

Not only do those who are certified as CPS and/or CAP work hard to earn the recertification points over the five-year period, there is a lot of work to organize the documentation required and get it ready for submission. Good luck, to everyone!

Please take a moment to visit International's website to make sure all of your information is correct!
