On behalf of your new board, thank you for your votes of confidence and your support as we begin a new and exciting year.
While I know I have big shoes to fill in all of those who have served before me, I also have also found role models and mentors in them.
Your new board is already hard at work, finding new and creative ways to overcome the challenges of the current times in which we are living. We must continue to develop the Chapter to meet these changing times. It is now more important than ever for this chapter to provide the
educational opportunities, the support and the networking that our members
need. Some of the things we have already worked on included a new meeting location, a new meeting format, and new ideas for our annual picnic.
The 2009-2010 International theme is the POWER of COMMITMENT. While the
details are still under wraps, it has given me a chance to begin to reflect on what that could mean. We may not be the
biggest chapter in our Division, but imagine what Let me flip the switch on that

Look for an exciting new year of programs!
It’s never too early to plan ahead!
2009 MEMBER OF THE YEAR
2008-2009 President - Mary B. Schrum CPS
"It was an honor to receive the Member of the Year award. There were many others who de-served the recognition; however, I was glad to serve you."
Not only do those who are certified as CPS and/or CAP work hard to earn the recertification points over the five-year period, there is a lot of work to organize the documentation required and get it ready for submission. Good luck, to everyone!
If you have questions about how you too can achieve this wonderful goal, feel free to contact Linda Wells CPS/CAP, Certification Chair.
Please take a moment to visit International's website to make sure all of your information is correct!
November is American Diabetes Month®—a time to shine a spotlight on a serious disease that leads to potentially life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, and amputation.
This year, we need to take a bolder, more audacious approach to American Diabetes Month. Consider that:
24 million children and adults in the United States live with diabetes
57 million Americans are at risk for type 2 diabetes
1 out of every 3 children born today will face a future with diabetes if current trends continue
We ask you to join the American Diabetes Association in launching a national movement to Stop Diabetes – help us confront it, fight it, and most importantly, stop it.
Here's how you can become involved:
