Troop 956 remembers to "Do a Good Turn Daily"

Community Service for our Troop Sponsor Our troop is sponsored by the American Legion Post 150 of Sterling VA. We assist the American Legion as they conduct a Memorial Day service at the Sterling Park Veterans Memorial by raising the flags and laying the Memorial Wreath.

Our troop provides monthly leaf raking and litter cleanup around the Sterling Park Veterans Memorial and surrounding area. Scouts gathered around the Memorial for the Scoutmaster minute at the end of the service project last November.

Community Service at
Goose Creek District Webelos-o-ree:

Numerous Troop 956 scouts participated in this fun-filled campout for Webelos II scouts and their parents held at NCAC's Camp Snyder. This weekend showcases a wide variety of Boy Scout skills and outdoor activities for the boys nearing the end of Cub Scouting and preparing to bridge into Boy Scouting.

Troop 956 provided the highlight of the after-dark activities: Flashlight Tag!! Our scouts stood on top of hay bales to give directions to the dozens of eager Webelos.

Community Service for the county-wide area: Scouting For Food
Scouting for Food is one of our Troop's "Good Turn for America" Service Projects. This is the crew of scouts, leaders and parents who delivered about 1000 Scouting for Food bags to homes in the Cascades area.

This year our troop collected a total of 1,013.6 pounds, and Loudoun scouts collected a grand total of 91,976 pounds! Thank you for helping out this year.
