CANCER REGISTRAR

Maintains the efficient operation of the Cancer Registry, registers and follows patients with a diagnosis of malignancy, retrieves and analyzes registry data and disseminates this data in accordance with professional ethics.  Maintains the quality and integrity of the data base, and ensures compliance with all internal and external regulations and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Certification as a Cancer Registrar (CTR) is required.

·         Requires a comprehensive knowledge of all Cancer Registry functions, systems, procedures and equipment as well as proficiency in abstracting data at a level generally acquired during two to three years of progressively more responsible experience.

·         Requires extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

·         Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and/or other allied healthcare professionals, and to supervise volunteers.

·         Ability to interpret policies and procedures and to gather, analyze and disseminate various types of data.

·         Basic computer and secretarial skills to produce written reports, and various types of data analysis with graphic interpretations.
