Events are planned while the command is deployed as well as at home.
Some of these events include: bi-monthly/monthly meetings, children's activities, group outings, guest speakers, parents night out,
half-way celebration, night-before social and homecoming, these are to name a few of what we can do!
We fundraise throughout the year to raise monies to offset the cost of these events.
We are always looking for volunteers and whether you participate in the group in an official or member capicity, we welcome you and your family!
The FRG Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every other month from 6:30-7:30
at the London Bridge Baptist Church in Virginia Beach while the squadron is home.
For 2009, those will be in June, August, October and December and in 2010 February.
We will begin having monthly meetings in March of 2010.
Membership is free and open to anyone who is attached to a sailor at the command.
Daycare during the meetings is free and available for all ages.
Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
We are looking for help for the following committees:
Fundraising Committee: We need a Chairperson and volunteers for this group.
This team will plan and work with the FRG Board to arrange fundraising events. All ideas are welcome!
This team will secure appropriate permissions, and coordinate the logistics to execute successful events.
(Examples: bake sale, raffles, command logo merchandise, first kiss and first hug.)
These funds will support functions we have for the children and families, as well as, the Half-way Celebration, Night-Before Social and HOMECOMING!
Homecoming Committee: This group will work with the VP of the FRG, Tracy.
This team will need to hit the ground running, it will take many volunteers to put together a Half-way Celebraton, Night-before Social and HOMECOMING!
What kind of event do we want to have? Where? How can we pull it off? What is the cost?
There are a lot of who, what, where, and whens that go into this.
It is a very rewarding committee to take part of knowing that you made such special events come together.
Social Events Chairperson:This person will work with the FRG Board to plan the events for the children and families of the command.
(Examples: holiday parties, picnics, area group outings, parents night out,and homecoming.)
As we get to the end of the deployment the chaiperson and any committee members
will roll up into assisting with the Night-Before Social and Homecoming.
Sunshine Chairperson:This person will work with the FRG Secretary Crissie to ensure that all new members
of the FRG are warmly welcomed into the command family.
They will also send various cards for occasions that affect our Checkmate families.
This team will also be responsible for putting together the Homecoming Program that will be handed out at the Night-Before Social and Homecoming.
