Welcome to Bethel Area Council PTA Website

WELCOME TO THE HOLIDAY SEASON!

The holidays are here and so is fundraising season at school. I think that this time of year can be stressful, but, it can also be fun! It is a great time to get involved and meet with other people from your local unit, share stories about your children and families. Talk while you hand out cookie dough and other fundraiser items. It can be a great time of sharing.

Elections are Over!

We have gotten through a great election month. The new candidates are going to be in office and awaiting our phone calls. This is a super time to be proactive and get involved meeting our new State Representatives and Senators. While we wait to march into the State Capital in February, we can begin opening a line of communication to them. These are people that you really want to get to know and hopefully share your views with.

One quick and easy way to access this information is to go directly to the Washington State PTA website, the link to the left will take you directly there. Click on the Legislative link and you can go region by region or access everything through a list of everyone at state level and their position. This is a great way to see who is who.

I am hoping that we can accomplish great things this year by having everyone involved at some level with Legislation and getting to know their State Officials. This is a super thing to do. Not only can you get your voice heard, but, you are speaking out on behalf of WSPTA and for our children. Take the time, I think you will all love it in the end.

FOCUS DAY -
A great chance to get heard in Olympia!

Some of you may be familiar with Focus Day already. For those of you who aren't, Focus Day takes place early in the year. We as a PTA whole go to Olympia to meet with our region's representatives, senators, and congressmen. It is an exciting day for everyone involved and you gain alot of really great experience and information. Be sure to have your issues ready to be talked about...you never know who you may get to chat with.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

I would like to take the opportunity to remind all of my local units out there that we at Bethel Area Council are here to help you in any way possible. We have so many resources available to you and would love to be able to assist you with concerns, problems, issues that can't seem to be resolved at your local units. We would be happy to come and help just by sitting in at your board meetings, or even sitting down one on one with board members to help dissolve and issues that concern you. Please feel free to contact us if you need any help at your local unit level. The links provided on this page will take you directly to our e-mail.

  COMMUNITY OUTREACH THROUGH BAC
This is a new & great position on the Bethel Area Council this year that we feel will benefit many of our families and PTA members this year! The two contact members are Katie McGuire and Shannon Booth. You can link to them directly in the link section. They have graciously stepped up to help with this amazing position. We are hoping to bring much needed assistance to families in the Bethel Area. This position will assist with a clothing bank, medical needs, community services and other outreach. If you know of anyone in need or have information that you would be able to offer, please contact one of these ladies and they can guide you in the right direction. We would really appreciate all of the local units making sure that the families in your schools are aware of this position and what it has to offer to the community.

If you would be interested in taking part in one or more of these free workshops, please send us your information and the names of the classes and we would be more than happy to set everything up for you!
