The Empire Theatre, in Tekoa, Washington was built/opened at 126 South Crosby in 1940 as a movie theater. The old, 280 seat, art deco, movie theater closed in 1958. During the next 40 years it would be used on an annual basis to entertain the surrounding area with the Slippery Gulch Days Celebration of the City of Tekoa, with many, hardworking and committed volunteers. The Theatre was reopened in the year 2000 by a group of caring individuals that wanted to see it restored. In the past 5 years it has gone from being used for regular community events to a Performing Arts Center for the county and surrounding areas.
