Our topic is.... POLAR BEARS!
These Arctic survivors are in trouble. Some experts estimate that by 2050, all polar bears population with have shrunk to have reached HALF the population now. You simply CAN'T ignore the fact that these treasured bears will be extinct.
WHY???? The ice in the Arctic Ice Caps are thinning, causing food hunting to be more dangerous. Polar bears have to swim for miles to reach a destination with solid ice at times. This makes them thin and more vulnerable. Without a layer of fat, they simply can't gain enough heat sometimes. Food shortages occur because seals (one of the main polar bear meals) can feel the vibrations through the ice, and escape much easier, especailly since they can hide in cracks leading to small holes in the ice.
This is because of humans. We are to blame. We must mend our mistakes in order for this planet to survive.

Why it is here .....

Global climate change is here because of many things. But, the main idea is:
Our atmosphere is very fragile & important. It can only release so many things from inside the Earth. Our atmosphere is like a shell/shield protecting the Earth and its heat & air. Our atmosphere is very thin. When the ozone layer broke in a small part, it came close to a very serious, deadly crisis. But thanks to working together, it has begun to heal. It is almost done now. Anyways, Many pollutants every year build up under the atmosphere. Only a fraction is let out. Our atmosphere is now covered in pollutants.

Now for Ms. Sun. Ms. Sun [this is a childish way to put it, I know. It just makes better SENSE] is kind enough to lend the Earth some rays to keep warm. However, Ms. Sun doesn't know that big, bad pollutants are hidden behind the atmosphere. She sends rays down who warm the Earth [how nice] and try to go back to Ms. Sun. But the pollutants down let 'em through. They leave the poor, little rays hanging, and Ms. Sun just keeps sendin' them down as usual. Now, all these little rays are trapped, and thier numbers are growing. Every now and then, some pollutants and little rays get out. But most of the little rays bounce back and forth. This heats the Earth a little too much. This is where the name 'global warming' comes from. Now, the clouds evaporate a lot in this heat. Woo! It is H-O-T stuff! However, this is WHY it is misnamed:

This water & other cold stuff must go somewhere. The clouds carry and precipitate it all. That's why one place will have a drought, and somewhere a few fair miles away will be flooded around the same time. That is why global climate change was previously misnamed.

Ice Caps of the World

The ice caps of the world are getting hit the hardest. Ice that once held firm and strong is now cracking and drifting apart. All because of global climate change . Animals all around the ice caps are becoming extinct and endangered. Why? Most of the blame gets landed on humans . The ice caps are melting by the day at a rate never seen before happening to ALL the ice caps. Pollutants in the water are damaging the ice! If these ice caps melt, the world trade center memorial will be under water! Sea level will go up everywhere....and destroy many things in the process. Lots more hurricanes, and other storms numbers will continue to rise!!!

Simple ways to do your part

There are many ways to help stop the fight. For instance, plant a tree. Trees help reduce carbon. Go on biodiesel for your furnace furnace to avoid using oil. Buy a hybrid car or one with lots of gas milage. To spread the word is important. Turn down your heat a few degrees in the winter and up a few in the summer and save a lot on your heating bill and carbon emmisions! Recycle! Compost! Pollutants
Pollutants are a main point in global climate change. They are part of your carbon footprint. If you wanna help stop global climate change, REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT!!!!!!!! Some pollutants include gas [for cars & furnaces], oil [this includes the stuff you see in puddles at a parking lot], plastic & other garbage you see on the side of roads.

Cows; strangely enough
Here is an odd fact I picked up from my dad:

Cows acually take up 5-10% of the pollutants. Why? [I feel your shock] Because cows burp methane; another dangerous pollutant in the sky, and since they EAT a lot, and all the cows in the world......lets just say you're probably starting to get the idea how this could be.
However [and fortunatley] some cow veternarians found a medication to put in the hay that makes the cows stop burping! Yes! A solution! Support these groups!
Also, for each average beef consumer, about 10 pounds of carbon is emmitted per year ! Whoa! So cut back on cows!
