Registration Required to Receive Official PTA Kit

All local, council, district, and region PTAs must register to receive their free Official PTA Kit for the 2009–2010 school year.

Use your unit's personalized URL—given on the postcard sent to your PTA president—to access the kit registration form, where your unit will specify a preferred shipping address and date for the kit. The person registering for and receiving the kit must be an authorized PTA leader and agree to ensure that the kit gets to the 2009–2010 PTA board of directors. Each unit will receive only one free kit, so help us make sure that kit reaches the right person(s) to be of best use in the coming school year.

http://www.pta.org/Images/BigBoxCover_rdax_252x156.jpgThe Official PTA Kit will still contain all the great resources you've come to expect in the PTA Back-to-School Kit, just under a different name. You'll get the PTA Quick-Reference Guides, membership posters and brochures, father involvement materials, and special offers from national partners.

For more details about kit registration and delivery, read the FAQs at PTA.org/OfficialKit.

The Official PTA Kit is available exclusively to PTAs in good standing.

Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, and European Congress units only: Please disregard the delivery process described above. Watch for information from your state PTA regarding your kit’s delivery, or contact your state office to learn how to obtain your kit.

Good afternoon.  I hope that you’ll have time this weekend to enjoy the wonderful weather, or if it’s too hot for your tastes, that you find a spot to stay cool.  Here’s a couple of items that you will want to know about.

NOMINEES SOUGHT FOR STATE OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE RECOGNITION

Nominees are being sought for PTA members to be recognized with the state-wide Outstanding Advocate Award.  The award will be announced and presented at this fall’s Legislative Assembly.  Many of our members stepped up in a big way during this past year, and this is a great opportunity to say thanks for their efforts and give them some well-deserved recognition.  You can download the nomination form from the Legislative Page on  WSPTA’s website, http://www.wastatepta.org/advocacy/index.html

HAVE YOU RECEIVED YOUR PTA BACK TO SCHOOL KIT?

If not, you may want to check to make sure your local unit was appropriately registered.  For information about how National PTA is managing the distribution of the kits, please check its website at http://www.pta.org/3104.asp

REGISTRATION FOR WSPTA’S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE EXTENDED

There are still a few spaces available at the WSPTA’s annual Leadership Conference, to be held at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia, the beginning at noon on August 7th and going until late in the afternoon on Saturday August 8th.  We’ve been able to have the hotel extend the special rate for this conference, but only on a day-by-day basis, so registration will be online only.  This conference will give our PTA leaders throughout the state a great opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and network with peers from your region and beyond.  To register, follow the links on the WSPTA website.   http://www.wastatepta.org/meetings/leadership/index.html.

I am both pleased and chagrined to be able to say that our first Emerging Minority Leaders Conference is completely sold out—please because the response shows a high level of interest and chagrined because it means that some folks who were interested won’t be able to participate this year.  Thanks to all of you who have signed up, and thanks to all of you for your support of WSPTA and for the work you do for our children.

Take care,

 Bill
