Park Overview:
Grayland Beach State Park is a 412-acre, year-round, marine camping park with 7,449 feet of spectacular ocean frontage, just south of the town of Grayland in Southwest Washington. The park attracts kite flyers, kite-flying observers and those who just like a pleasant day at the beach. The park is popular for bird watching, kite flyers, beach walking and more. Visitors can enjoy the many activities a day at the beach offers, then retreat to a comfortable and unique yurt for the evening, or camp in your own tent or RV (or rented RV). There are also other options for accommodations nearby.

Camp Format:
The idea behind this camp is to provide an extended event for families to get-to-know other families with similar origins as their own. Kids and teens get time with each other. Parents get time with other parents, too.

This will be a “BYO” camp. Camping families will bring their own food and bedding. Additionally, while there will some scheduled events, there will not be a jammed packed age-divided class schedule. This is a very different format than the camps that we’ve done in the past. It is a do-it-yourself family camp. There will be no camp counselors or other volunteers from the community. There will be plenty of time for beach-combing, kite flying, hiking, games, and kicking back in our camp chairs watching the kids hula hoop and play Frisbee. We will ask for campers to volunteer to organize some events. If you have an idea for an activity that you would like to lead, let us know.

The most important source of information, support, and notification of upcoming activities is our Yahoo e-mail group. We encourage members (and prospective members) to go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FRUA-Washington and join this group.

It is an active group, without too large a number of postings. If you hate email, you can sign up for a daily digest (all messages for the day in one e-mail) or "no e-mail" & read the messages on the Yahoo site board at your convenience.

The topics range from upcoming FRUA INC activities to advice between members on various adoption topics.
