Next meeting is Thursday, October 20th at Subway Restaurant on Kitsap Way. Dinner starts at 5:30pm with the meeting starting at 6 pm. Guests are welcome. Members and guests are encouraged to bring items for food bank.
Teen girls are invited to learn about forming a community service club for Junior High and High School girls. Please contact us if you are interested.
We helped with the YWCA "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" in July.

blue_flower.jpgMaking a Difference in Kitsap County†††††††††††††† "GFWC Kitsap Peninsula is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Our purpose is to serve our community, educate our members and promote fellowship. Members select projects from the following areas: The Arts, Conservation, Education, Homelife,International Issues, and Public Affairs. " The Signature project of GFWC is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention. Members range in age and include working moms, stay at home moms, single women and retirees. GFWC Kitsap Peninsula meets the 3rd Thursday each month, September through June. We are a part of GFWC Peninsula District which holds a Spring & Fall Conference each year. There are 8 clubs in the district which includes clubs in Kitsap, Pierce, and Thurston counties.
Recent Club Projects 
    Filling "Smooth Move" tubs for women at the A.L.I.V.E Shelter
    Chico Salmon Park
    Making and distributing "Comfort Pillows" to hospitals for women with breast cancer.
    Selling desserts at the Peninsula Dance Theater performances.
    Donating books to public and school libraries.
    Holiday gifts for women and children at the A.L.I.V.E. shelter.
    Donations to food banks and needy families.
    Hospital gowns and tote bags for Operation Smile.
    Made blankets for "Project Linus"
    Distributing W.H.A.L.E. packets. (We Have A Little Emergency) A child identification program.
    Members filled "Smile Bags" and made dolls for "Children of the Nations"
    Helping "Abraham's House" provide Gift bags to residents in nursing homes.
    Enhanced an area along the waterfront in Port Orchard for Kitsap Community Resource Center.

      We are looking to form a Juniorette Club. Juniorettes is for girls 12 to 18 years old.
  •  Projects and Events
    Nutcracker Ballet Dessert Sales Members sold cheesecake, brownies, and cookies at the Nutcracker Ballet performed by Peninsula Dance Theatre, in December at Bremerton High School. Proceeds go to community projects and Peninsula Dance Theatre.
    "Smooth Move"tubs for YWCA A.L.I.V.E. Shelter." Members have put together and donated Smooth Move Tubs. Tubs are given to women when they move out of the shelter. Items needed for the tubs are: bath towels and wash cloths, dishes, frying pan, cleaning products, $50 grocery card, dish towel, pot holder, drinking glasses, small pot, can opener, paper towels, silverware, utensils and toilet paper. You can help by bringing items to one of our meetings.
    Members donated cookies to local Firemen and Policemen to thank them for their service. The cookies were presented for Valentine's Day.
    Club Activities

    Members have participated in the Silverdale Whaling Days Parade.
    Members painted the restrooms and decorated bulletin boards at St. Vincent DePaul food bank.
    Club members will be handing out "WHALE" packets at Kids Day Safety Fair on June 7th at the Kitsap County Fair Grounds.
    We are looking for girls 13-18 that are interesting in doing community service to form a "Juniorette" Club. Members would work with our club on projects and also be able to do projects of their own. Contact us if you are interested.

    Nancy Burdick is 2011 GFWC-WS Jennie June Award Winner On September 18th, at GFWC-Washington State Fall Board in Yakima President Kathie Jorgensen announced the 2011 Jennie June winner as Nancy Burdick. The General Federation of Womenís Club Jennie June Award is named for the GFWC founder and honors a clubwoman for outstanding commitment to club, community and family. GFWC, one of the oldest and largest womenís volunteer service organization, was founded in 1890 by Jane Cunningham Croly who as a journalist for the New York Sunday Times used the pen name Jennie June. Nancy has been an active GFWC club member for 36 years and is now serving as the GFWC-WS First Vice-President. Her volunteer commitment to our community over the years extends beyond GFWC club activities. Nancy has volunteered for other organizations in our community including Boy Scouts, her local school Parent Teacher Association, Peninsula Dance Theatre, and also volunteers in her grandsonís school classroom. Her unlimited commitment to family includes weekly family dinners for her husband, two sons and their families and an annual extended family reunion at her home.

    Scholarships GFWC Kitsap is looking for young women wishing to apply for scholarship. Scholarships are available to graduating senior girls or girls currently enrolled in undergraduate courses and plan to attend a college or university in Washington State. Deadline for application is January 15th.
