Wastatelogo.jpgWomen dedicated to community service                               GFWC Washington State is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), a volunteer community service organization that supports the arts, preserves natural resources, promotes education, encourages healthy life styles, stresses civic involvement, and works toward world peace and understanding. GFWC Washington State meets in April for a convention and in the Fall for a board meeting and workshops. All club members are welcome to attend both the convention and board meeting. We have clubs in several towns around Washington State. Each club selects the projects that they want to work on. Members are given the opportunity to be a part of their community, to learn more about their communities, to practive leadership skills and most importantly a lifefime of friendships.
The signature project of GFWC is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention. Many clubs in Washington State are working on the "Step Away from Abuse, GFWC Sock Project". Help a club by donating socks for women and children in shelters.
GFWC Washington State is one of eleven states in the Western States Region (WSR). Western States Region holds a conference in September each year. All club members are welcomed and encouraged to attend. WSR 2011 Conference was held in Denver, Colorado September 29 - October 2nd, 2011. The 2012 Conference will be in Anchorage, Alaska.
