IWRA SAFETY CODE
Safety is very important with any rocket. Water Rockets in particular are not toys.
A pressurized water rocket can store huge amounts of energy and fly hundreds of miles per hour. They can suddenly burst, or injure bystanders if they don't stand at a safe distance from the rocket.

Because of this, children should never be allowed to launch water rockets without constant adult supervision. Rockets can be safe but only when everyone understands and abides by safe behavior.

Follow the link marked " Safety Code" (Upper Left) to view the official IWRA safety code adapted on March 2007.

Revised: 03.17.2007.
  IWRA YAHOO FORUM
The IWRA Yahoo Forum is a private forum for internal discussions of the association and is being used for voting purposes by using the polling feature of the forum.

Members are asked to join the forum at the time of joining the IWRA so that they can be fully involved in the association.

Along with the IWRA Forum this public site has the draft proposals, voting materials listed plus general information of the workings of the association to keep the general public informed.

A message from the IWRA president
Hi Everyone,

I want to thank all of you that participated in the voting for officers and the two questions
for the 2008 election cycle. A very special thank you goes out to Lonnie E. for his leadership and being the very first president of this great association. Under Lonnie's administration we saw the ratification of the comprehensive water rocket safety code, the use of the IWRA forum for internal discussions and the use of the polling feature of the forum for voting. Also under his administration discussions were started on the competition recognition guidelines and the peer-review process. My hope is that we can complete those discussions and have a ratification vote in early 2008. Thanks also go to Nick O. and Robert D. for their service in the past administration and my personal thanks to Nick O. for wanting to be part of this administration as the associations Secretary for ' 08.

It was kind of disappointing to not have more nominees for offices or voting participation in the election by the full membership. Because of the poor participation one of my administrations goals for this year is to energize the membership to get more membership involvement within the association.

One thing I have already started to form is the president's council which will include David S., Nick O. and myself plus at less two other members that will be appointed by my office. This group will provide direction for the association by identifying issues facing the association and provide input to the president. I have asked Nick and David to nominate members to this council and from that list I will be asking nominees personally to become part of the council. As always I am hoping to get as much participation by the total membership as possible in all our discussions. I want to make sure all sides have a voice in what ever direction the association heads.

Near term my goals are to finalize the competition guidelines and peer-review process so we can bring both documents up for a ratification vote to the full membership. I also would like the association to put together a competition/peer-review board that would start making contact with known water rocket competitions and get information out to those competition that we are working on becoming the central depositor for world record achievement recognition for competitors within the water rocket community.

Again, Thank you all for being part of this association and I look forward to working with you this year as we grow the association and take on new challenges.

Thanks again,

Gene F.
President, IWRA
