< Here is one of our favorite songs to sing, (to the tune of "My Favorite Things")

Maloox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in strings, These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillac's and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses, Polident and fixident and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets, corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my fovorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin, Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin, And we won't mention our short shrunken frames, When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break, When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad.

Red Hat Society Traditions
Red Hat Society Day... The RHS celebrates its birthday on April 25th, the anniversery of the first Red Hat Society gathering. Reduations... When a Pink Hatter reaches the magic birthday of 50 her chapter may choose to put on a "reduation" a ceremony of whatever kind the members come up with. During this ceremony she will finally attain her first RED HAT. Official Instrument The Kazoo. WHY? It is an equal-opportunity instrument. Anyone can hum and play one. It is eminently portable. It is affordable. And last because Group concerts are easily arranged. The WAVE... The Queenly wave which comprises the RHS greeting is performed by cupping the hand, fingers together and ever-so-gently swiveling the wrist back and forth in the direction of the adoring throngs ( or other Red Hatters) Oh, so ladylike and refined, don't you agree? Brim-Brushing.... Red Hatters enjoy gestures of affection when bidding each other hello or goodbye, but hugs tend to knock hats to the ground. Therefore, when in your regalia, we often content ourselves with mutual shoulder touching and gentle brushing of hat brims. full hugs are given by those who are hatless. Birthday Suits.... A Red Hatter gains special attention by wearing the Red Hat colors in a unique way during her birthday month. She wears a red outfit with a purple hat.
 CHAPTER GUIDELINES
Full Regalia (red hats/purple attire or pink hats/lavender attire for members younger then fifty) is required at all events. Children may not attend events, Minimum age for attendance/membership is twenty-one. Chapter members will take turns planning events. Activities may include, lunches teas, train rides, visits to plays, places of interest - anything that would fun and interesting. We meet the 3rd Thurs of each month and sometimes in between. There may be more then one event per month. News of the events will be communicated to members by e-mail or those without e-mail may receive a phone call or written invitation by the hostess. It is manditory that you RSVP to the hostess weather your going or not. As most of the time out outing requires a hat count. Members who don't RSVP to the hostess or Queen Pat,for three consecutive meeting will lose their place on the roster. This policy will be adminstered with descretion so that if members stay in touch, confirm a continuing interest in be a member of the "Le Flamboyant Red Hatters", and have a good reason for missing an event, they will remain members in good standing. Members may bring guests to our events with the permission of the hostess, there may be occosions when the size of the group must be limited so the hostess must be contacted before a guest is invited. Currently we have openings for new members,so contact me if your interested in joining a fun chapter that will soon be having its 5th Birthday. Our dues are $12.00 per year and is due in January of each year. This helps pay for any extra expenses that may occure during the year. In Friendship and Sisterhood to all Red Hatters. This also includes ladies in waiting too (pink hatters) Queen Pat.....
