complete one or more ministry assignments during the remainder of the service,
and return the binder directly to Pastor Deb after the service.

2010 Pledges. If you have not
already turned in your 2010 pledge card and Time and Talent Survey form, please
do so as soon as possible. Session meets
to plan the 2010 budget on December 1, and needs to know our approximate income
for the coming year in order to finalize a realistic budget. Your pledge matters! And, while we’re on the subject … There are
only five weeks left in 2009 –
please plan to fulfill your 2009 MPC pledge by year end!
Announcements for the Week of November 22, 2009
PLEASE NOTE that there will not be a Morning Circle meeting this month as that date falls on
Thanksgiving Day. Instead we will meet on the first
Thursday of next month – December 3rd – so please mark your
calendars. Details will be forthcoming as the date approaches.
If you
ordered Christmas greens from Magnolia Mission Youth this year, they will
be ready for pickup at Magnolia Lutheran Church (enter from McGraw or alley
behind the church) on Tuesday 11/24 between 4:30-7:00pm. Questions may be directed to Randy Devitt at
206-282-8612.
Advent
Party: Plan to attend MPC's Advent Party on December 6th
immediately after church. Lunch will be served, followed by craft
activities for all ages, including for the youngest members of our church
family. We will also decorate the sanctuary and the outside of the
church, as well as make cards and put together gift baskets for our home bound
members. The afternoon will end with carol singing. We need you to
make this event truly special. If you would like to help with the party,
sign up on the clipboard in your pew. If you have ideas for the party,
contact Sharlene Bathum.
Monthly
Playgroup:
Our playgroup/parent coffee gathers monthly on second Thursdays from 9:30 to 11
am upstairs in the church nursery. We meet next on Thursday, 12/10.
All are welcome. Invite a friend!
CELEBRATE THE REASON! with
the teens from Magnolia Mission Youth:
It’s
easy to get caught up in the trappings of Christmas— the music, the lights, the
decorations. Yet, this favorite holiday is really about so much more: God’s
love and ultimate gift for us. This Christmas, join MAGNOLIA MISSION YOUTH for
a celebration that includes drama and carols in a setting that will capture
both the joy and festivities of the season along with the reason for it: Jesus’
birth.
Where:
Magnolia UCC (just west of the Village on McGraw)
When:
Sunday, Dec. 13th at 7pm
Cost:
$5, teens and children are free

Supper Club will gather for our annual Christmas party on Saturday 12/19 at 6:30 pm at the home of Cindy and Doug Bain, 2401 Rosemont Place West, telephone 206-282-2699. Bring a potluck dish and join us for an evening of great fellowship, good food, carol singing, and Christmas joy. All MPC adults are invited – if you have never attended a Supper Club event before, what better season to begin?
The
Giving Tree has
made its seasonal appearance in the Narthex. Please take a tag or two to
help less fortunate women and children celebrate the joy of
Christmas. Return your present, with the tag attached, no later than
December 6th. The Deacons will deliver the gifts to the Church of Mary Magdelene. Please, do not wrap the gifts. Thank you!

*Gathering Song (Renew 6):
As we
gather may your Spirit work within us;
As we
gather may we glorify your name;
Knowing
well that, as our hearts begin to worship,
We’ll be
blessed because we came,
We’ll be
blessed because we came.
*Call
to Worship
Leader: Christ
the King, King of justice,
People: We
belong to you.
Leader: Christ
the King, King of glory,
People: We
belong to you.
Leader: Christ the King, King of integrity,
People: We
belong to you.
Leader: In our world, in our streets, in our homes
and communities
People: Your
kingdom come.
Leader: In our lives, in our loves, in our hopes
and our traveling,
People: Your
kingdom come.
Leader: Today and tomorrow, in time and eternity,
People: Your
kingdom come.
Leader: Let us worship our glorious King!
*Hymn 151 Crown Him with Many Crowns
(Verses 1, 3 & 4)
Prayer of Confession (please be seated)
Leader: Friends, God does not
disappoint those who come in hope, nor does God turn away those who approach in
faith. Let us make our confession to
God, in hope and in faith.
All: Almighty
God, you love us, but we do not love you fully.
You call, but we do not always listen.
Leader: We
often walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns. We often condone evil, hatred, warfare, and
greed.
All: God
of grace, help us to admit our sin, so that as you move toward us in mercy, we
may repent, turn to you, and receive forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
(The
prayer continues in silent confession.)
Leader: Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Leader:
See the greatness of God’s love for
us all:
All: God
sent Jesus into the world that we might have abundant life.
Leader:
How much God wants us to know that we
are loved, accepted and forgiven!
All: Thanks
be to God, forever and ever! Amen.

*Sharing the Peace of
Christ: Lily Whipple
Leader: The peace
of Christ be with you.
All: And also with you.

Christ’s peace.

Prayers of the People
and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, which art
in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come; thy
will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our
daily bread,
And forgive us our
debts as we forgive our debtors,
And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil;
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
We thank you, then, Creator,
for all things bright and good,
The seed-time
and the harvest, our life, our health, our food.
Accept these gifts we offer,
for all your love imparts,
And what you most would
welcome: our humble, thankful hearts.
