Local ministry is directed by the MPC Board of Deacons, which is elected by the congregation as leaders in ministries of service and compassion. At the present time, we are engaged in local ministry in the following ways:

  • Red Barrel Projects

We have a “red barrel” in the narthex of the church building and the congregation is asked to keep it filled with goods of various kinds for several different groups of people in the course of a year.

  • Operation Nightwatch

Once a month we send a group of folks to serve at this ministry to street people on S. Jackson Street. We set up for dinner and help to pass out food, and then clean-up afterward.

  • Angel Tree Ministry

We participate annually in this ministry to the families of prisoners in the local jail. We provide Christmas presents to the children of prisoners on their behalf.

  • Food Bagging

We pack bags of food several times a year for a Seattle food bank

In addition to these hands-on ministries, we also provide financial support for several local ministries such as Northwest Harvest
