August…? Already?? Where did the summer go? Time passes quickly for the old and active (I know about the old part).

We’ve had a very active July here at the club with no signs of a slow down as we go into August and September. You’ll find a number of events in which to become involved described in this month’s newsletter. From the Member-Guest and The Ladies’ Club Summer Sizzler to Home & Homes, Club Championships, Couples’ Pot Lucks and Ladies’ Clinics, we have a variety of offerings to meet every golfing “need”. You’ll find entry forms for two of our upcoming tournaments (Member-Guest and Ladies’ Club Summer Sizzler) with this mailing. Send them in and enjoy the fun.

Our Jr. clinics were a success once again this summer thanks in a large part to Suzie Cary our Clinic Director. Suzie, along with the assistance of David Dobson, Theo Miller, Will de van der Schueren, Sally Frease and Ted Wurtz conducted a very successful Jr. clinic season. Thanks to all of you parents who provided your sons and daughters with this valuable instruction that will hopefully launch them into a game they can enjoy for a lifetime.

I’d like to have help from all who have books money that has accumulated from your winnings here at the club. I would ask that by the end of the year you spend down your books money to one-half of the current balance or to $200.00 whichever is less. Remember, you can use your books money for any merchandise in the pro shop (I can also special order any item from any of our current vendors), for green fees, power carts or any item in the snack bar. Your books money balance is printed on every receipt after any purchase or anyone of our pro shop or café staff can check your current balance of books money from their computer. Thanks.

Our Meadowmeer team of Ted Wurtz and Ian Ritchie were narrowly defeated by the Wing Point Pros in the annual Helpline Tournament on the 20th of July. Thanks to all who came out and supported the team and the Helpline House here on the island.

I hope many of you have had a chance to enjoy our new deck furniture, now complete with potted plants and umbrellas. The “setting on the deck” makes “sitting on the deck” a real pleasure. Come out and enjoy an offering from the café as you bask in the warmth of the summer sun (or shade).

Ladies’ Club Championships continue through August 5 best 2 of 3 18 hole rounds.

*Ladies’ Club Summer Sizzler Tournament September 20 9 AM Shotgun start (see entry form enclosed).

*Suzie Cary is offering another Ladies’ Clinic the week of August 25 (M,W,Thur &F) Please call the Pro Shop to make your reservation $150.00 for the week or $50.00 per day drop in. We need a minimum of 10 paid entries to hold the clinic so call us soon.

*Our Top Golf Team is doing very well in their competition with other area clubs. Way to go Ladies!

Special Note

At the annual Darryl Gellert Memorial Couples’ Tournament a Scholarship fund was established in the name of our late Board President and beloved member, Darryl Gellert.

We received several contributions at the tournament and have left the opportunity open to anyone interested in adding to the fund. The scholarship fund will be used to provide financial assistance to High School age golfers throughout the Kitsap area who pursue the sport of golf. Please make your contribution payable to The Darryl Gellert Scholarship Fund. Thanks for caring.
