What is the nervous system?
The nervous system is basically the control system of your whole body. It's made up of the brain, spinal cord and a vast amount of nerves that are all over. There are two nervous systems. The central nervous system, which consists of the brain and spinal cord; and the peripheral nervous system, consisting of all the nerves. The brain uses information that it obtains from all of the nerves. Then it takes that information and processes it. The brain completes actions and reactions according to the signals that the nerves have sent it. Without the nervous system we would be blobs. |

What the Nervous system does:
The nervous system completes actions and reactions. It helps you taste, smell, hear, see think, and the list goes on. The nervous system helps you with everyday things you take for granted. If your walking to school it's because the brain is receiving signals for you to do so. If your eating a delicious slice of pizza, the only way to taste it or know it was delicious is from the help of the nervous system. The nervous system does so much that helps us and without it we couldn't exist.
| |
How it works: The complexity of the nervous system is huge. There is so much that goes on inside us and not everything can be explained. Although, it is complex, it can be described with simplicity. When something wants to be acted upon, the nerves that are all over our body, send messages up the spinal cord to the brain. When the brain receives these messages it will adjust or react to what was intended to happen. This is how we do basically everything. |
|
Where is the nervous system?
The nervous system is all throughout your body. It consists of the brain, spinal cord, and a lot of nerves that are spread out in the body. Those are the main parts of the system. The brain which recieves messages then takes action, the nerves which send messages, and the spinal cord which they travel through.
