*** PRESIDENT, Vice PRESIDENT, TREASURER and SECRETARY positions open on PTA board for 2010 - 2011 school year! Yes, I know it is only January, but we already know that we have these positions to fill for the PTA next school year. It would also be very helpful to have a person in charge of the Fundraising efforts, and a coordinator for the school store. (This exodus of board members is not indicative of anything bad...- we have all done this for a few years now and have other areas we want to support with our volunteer time!)

Please consider becoming more involved in the PTA by taking a board position. Even if you have not been in a PTA before, we will provide plenty of training and PTA resources to make it a smooth transition during the summer. ---If you are interested, please contact Shona Martin by email, or her cell is 360 631-3869. 4. Old business:

1. Fundraiser – prizes all handed out. Final profit of $6285 on fundraiser after costs of prizes and final rebates.
2. Donation of $3000 to PSMS for technology needs of school/students. Awaiting decision on what school wants to buy – pending finding out if receiving money from Intermec grant (see below).
3. School Store –In process of putting up list of items for sale. Some new items – thank you Yvonne – guitar picks and clarinet reeds. Ideas for increased sales….. popcorn days? Still would like to have a ‘coordinator/lead person’ for school store.

5. New business:

1. Grant $$ from Intermec Technologies company –Parent Arecka Mather applied for a technology grant for schools through her work. May get $2000 in Spring.
2. PTA recently funded…. $750 for cost of ‘caller’ for Square Dancing. Went very well and enjoyed by many students!
3. Teacher $$ requests… Charlene Franck - $50 to sponsor students going to Scholastic Art Show. Will also be paying for some of bus.
4. Teacher requests….Julie Zurcher is planning on taking 8th graders to Bodies exhibit, and PTA will collect field trip $$ most likely March 3, 4, 5.
5. BOARD MEMBERS for 2010-2011 school year: - need PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, TREASURER, and SECRETARY. Will put info in upcoming school newsletter, also start contacting PTA’s and 5th grade parents at Elementary Schools.
6. What upcoming events need PTA volunteers? Dates of teacher / staff appreciation weeks, Field Day, 8th Grade Promotion, any more Honor Level events??
