    December 1st Craft...
    Beaded Forks

    Supplies needed

*Large serving piece silverware (spoon/slotted spoon or fork)
    *Beads
    *20 gauge wire
    *24 gauge wire
    *Pliers

    Instructions:
20-gauge wire for wrapping around the stem of the silverware. This will hold the skinny wire with beads on it. Cut off about 12 in. of wire (you can adjust this length once you get the hang of how much you need). Leave about 1 inch of wire hanging at the neck. Wrap the rest of the wire about 3-4 times around the neck (the skinniest part) of the silverware. Now start wrapping the wire at 3/4 in. intervals around the stem of the excess wire off. Now you should have about 1 in. of wire hanging off both ends of the silverware. Cut the wire down to somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 in. Now take some pliers and twirl the top end into a swirl and push it against the front of the neck of the silverware (the swirl will usually sit on part of the scoop of the spoon, not necessarily the neck--look at the one I did for you and you'll see what I mean). Do the same for the bottom. Now your fat wire is in place. Now take the 24-gauge wire and cut off a wire the length from your chin to the end of one arm (about 2 1/2 feet) (Again, you can adjust this length once you figure out how much you want to wrap and bead around your silverware.) Take one end insert it into the back of the neck where you wrapped around the fat wire several times. Wrap the skinny wire several times around the neck sticking it in between the fat wire. This should hold you skinny wire in place. Now you can start beading. You can bead in a pattern; or you can bead like I did with your spoon. Just pick a bead and wrap the wire--up, down, around, way up, in the middle, way down. When your done, cut off excess wire but leave enough to stuff the end somewhere in between beads, or if you happen to end at either the neck or the bottom you can wrap it several times again and stuff it into the fat wire just below the swirl. Viola!
