The MOPS International theme for 2008-2009 is ADVENTURES IN MOTHERING. This theme will equip us as moms to learn more about ourselves as we go through the adventure of motherhood. We will learn how we can celebrate and embrace the fun in the experiences, even in the midst of daily mom life that stretches us emotionally and spiritually.

The metaphor for ADVENTURES IN MOTHERING is an amusement park. With the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of the amusement park, motherhood might feel like a sensory overload. But our MOPS group will enjoy this together and learn.

Winter Wonderland

On our Seventh stop of our adventure we took some time to celebrate the Christmas season with a cookie exchange (yummy!) and a Christmas song scramble game. Shawna shared a Misadventure in Motherhood with us. Kim and Nadine prepared the left/right pass the present game for us, with a winner at each table!

Our mentor moms gave us a nice Christmas blessing. . . "One Solitary Life" - He was born in an obscure village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. He then became an itinerant preacher. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house. He didn't go to college. He had no credentials but himself. He was only thirty-tree when the public turned against him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing, the only property he had on earth. He was laid in a borrowed grave. Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central figure of the human race. All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned have not affected the life of a man on this earth as much as that ONE SOLITARY LIFE.

“Operation Christmas Cheer” – During the Christmas season our MOPS group adopts a local family in need. This year one of our own MOPS mom’s in need, her husband was just laid off. This mom is a humble and beautiful person and her family would appreciate all that we could do. They have 2 girls (age 3 and 11) and one boy (age 8). If you are able to help out in any way please contact your DGL. Thank you for sharing Gods love with our fellow MOPS mom and family.

· Peaks Gym – Monday Jan 5th, we are having out steering planning meeting from 9:30-12pm and we are in need of some mom's to come and help out with our kids. For the mom's that come and help us they will receive a FREE MOPS meeting, plus fun time with your kids at Peak Gymnastics while you are helping us. Contact your DGL for more information. Check out all the FUN!!!

· Mom's Night Out – Wed Jan 7th, 7pm at The Mint in downtown Enumclaw. Come hang out with Shannon, Angela and other MOPS moms.

· Next MOPS meeting on Monday Jan 12th – “The Game Plan” – Getting your Home organized and getting your kids to help too. Our January SWAP: White Elephant (did you get something for Christmas that you don't plan on using and can't take it back to the store? Bring it to our January SWAP)

· All Woman’s climb on Mt Rainier only a few more openings for this weeklong trek, including survival techniques, and food. Contact Leah for more info by email or visit www.campsheppard.org.

· MOPS Fun Day at Camp Sheppard (near Crystal MT.) on January 19th. Come join us for a day of inner tubing with your MOPS friends up near Crystal. Bring your own tube. More info coming soon..
