Walking the Labyrinth

What's Growing In the Garden
Summer is here and we have some great growth in the garden! The tomatoes are blooming, the pumpkin leaves are growing large, we have harvested greens for Church of Mary Magdalene's lunch twice already. Snap peas, leafy greens, and herbs have already made it to our table. We have planted more potatoes after our first harvest/eating. Corn, squash, beans and more are growing, wow God's abundant blessing is so evident all around us!
We are looking forward to bringing back the deck pots garden, and are excited about the fruit trees that have been planted in the last year. Just this week we added a pear to the front yard, so we have a pair of pears. Steve's mushrooms are starting to look interesting, and we are praying they will work well under the cedar trees, this is the first time raising mushrooms for us. .

 Our "Girls"
Our two flocks of chicks are getting larger and larger, at just about 3 months, they are almost full grown and welcome us at the gate when we come to the yard, eager to be fed the treats they get in addition to their grain, they love dandelions, slugs, bread and leftovers. The bread ends from the church's sandwich ministries nurture our girls, just as the sandwiches nurture the homeless women at Angeline's Day Center. Last year Steve and our son Trevor built one incredible home out of items from the church that were destined for the dump, old Sunday School Furniture has now become a great home for our Silver Laced Wyandottes. This year we were blessed with a second home for a sweet little flock of Buff Orpingtons from a member of Edmonds UMC who was moving from the state. We are blessed to be able to have 12 little "girls" due to the parsonage/church lots and the good natures of our neighbors. We'll keep you updated on on girls as they grow up here in the beautiful Green Lake Neighborhood!

Saints who Inspire Us
We are big fans of Saint Francis and John Wesley, who both taught essential principles of Christian teaching in how we care for one another and our world. Both of these dear souls reminded us of the way we need to nurture ourselves with prayer constantly, and to utilize good stewardship of all creation to better live out the Goodness of God's Creation. If you would like a place to pray or someone to pray with you, give a call to the church office and we will schedule a time. Please know that everyone is welcome in God's Kingdom, and all are welcome at the Castle At Green Lake!
"Farmers" - Lisa & Steve Anthony
Pastor Lisa serves Green Lake United Methodist Church and is a member of Spiritual Director's International. She (I) am also the web-master and silly one who drags my beloved family into participating in wonderful adventures like our Spiritual Sustainable Garden. Lisa is also the chicken, cat and dog whisperer, and ever grateful for the saints who inspire such as St. Francis and John Wesley. Steve is the master gardener here, and patient soul who also volunteers at Seattle Tilth and works by day with Compass Center Men's Program with men transitioning from homeless to housed. Together with our wonderful congregation at Green Lake, we welcome you to our garden!

Spiritual Quotes of the Week
“If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.” St. Francis of Assisi
“Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can” John Wesley
