Looking for a group that offers laid-back hiking, a stewardship and appreciation of our Washington woods, mountains and ocean beaches?
For the past 86 years, The Wanderers hiking group has met every other weekend year round to enjoy the Northwest's beautiful hiking trails.
To encourage more members to participate, a unique 'two tiered' program has been utilized successfully these past three years. The more difficult hikes into the alpine areas in the Olympics and Cascades are divided into two groups – one scheduled at a lower elevation at a slower pace; the other challenging those wishing to reach a summit point at a higher elevation.
On an average, hike attendance is 6-20 people. Some hikes are scheduled at historic hiking sites while others are around the neighborhood. Also note that we do like to eat... as it is a Wanderers' tradition to try and end each hike with a visit to a local 'hard ice cream' shop.
Founded in 1929, The Wanderers club has a diverse group of members who offer a wealth of local savvy for those interested in seeking new adventures with outdoor recreation. Our current membership count is at 74 and growing. We encourage all members to take on the role of being a hike lead and/or sweep for at least one hike a year.
