Note from Shelley

School is in full swing, the air is cooler and we are on our way to the holidays.

This is also the time of year to look back and thank those who work behind the scenes helping to support all of you and your families. I personally want to thank the board and our committee members for their tireless efforts and support. Also, thanks to all of you, our members. I hope this holiday season brings you all much joy and peace. As you begin to think about those new year resolutions, look at your talents and think about getting involved in any of our committees. We are ALWAYS looking for new ideas, new faces.

With an election year approaching, 2008 brings our own elections for the chair and secretary positions. Like the presidency, I feel the chair position should be held no longer than four years, and I will not be seeking re-election in May. It is time for me to step down as I am finding it more and more difficult to take on the responsibilities of this position. Family commitments have placed more demands on my time than ever. My husband and I continue to be sole caretakers of his 87-year-old grandmother. Demands with my children and school continue to intensify. I also think it is time to give my parents a break from their 30-minute drive (one way) as they have graciously watched my children EVERY night for board meetings over the years. In addition, new ideas, new faces are always a good thing. This won’t be goodbye, as I will still continue to be involved in some capacity as I have for the past eight years.

PLEASE, take some time and reflect if this is a position you may want to fill. Our chapter continues to be strong and we need continued leadership. I will be happy to discuss this position in detail to anyone interested. My term ends in May but would love to get someone up to speed before then.

May you all have an enjoyable holiday season! On to 2008! Hope to see you at Grandfather Frost.
