MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers

MOPS International exists encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. MOPS is about celebrating motherhood, meeting needs, making connections, and experiencing God’s love...through relationships and resources.

Do you think food stains are accessories? Is spit-up your new fragrance?

Then come and meet other moms who are taking part of Adventures in Mothering.

It is our desire that every mother of a preschooler has time to be nurtured. We are committed to helping mothers of preschoolers as she ventures through this exciting and challenging time in her life. Hillcrest MOPS wants to allow every mom to have a break from her daily routine, to know that her children are being well taken care of, and to give her an opportunity to develop new friendships and nurture existing ones.

The MOPS International theme for 2008-09 is Adventures in Mothering. This theme equips us moms to learn more about ourselves as we go through the great adventure of motherhood.

We moms will celebrate and embrace the fun in our experiences, even in the midst of our daily mom life that stretches us emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

The metaphor for Adventures in Mothering is an amusement park. With the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the amusement park, motherhood might feel like a sensory overload. But our MOPS group will enjoy this together and learn more about ourselves as women, moms and leaders.

So What does a typical MOPS meeting feel like?

Our MOPS meetings always begin with FOOD! Well, OK, we have food all morning long. Once we have plated our food (or during the plating), our emcee will begin the meeting with announcements. Afterwards we have the main speaker and then gather into smaller groups for discussion. The morning ends with a craft and then promptly picking up our children from MOPPETS at 11:00.
