Hillside 2007-2008 PTO Executive Board Meeting

MINUTES

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008 @ 9:00am

 

Welcome with a fabulous attendance: Valle Moretti, Amy Steinert, Julie Kremer, Leslie Ledvorowski, Mary Jo Dunn, Terri Harrington, Samuel and Rose Lee, Kim Anderson, Sherri Bergren, Tom Lazar, Kathy Turco, Renate Hoehnen, Carol Cobb, Dawn Brauer and Norma Perez-Weiner

 

High School Referendum Presentation

After presentation, ideas on getting people to vote were discussed. Calling 10 friends the day of the election and emailing were favored. Making use of the absentee ballots if not available the day of the election was another option. The importance of this election was stressed. Please vote!

 

Approval of Minutes from February 2008

 

Presidents Report:  Valle Moretti

A.     Thank you’s:

·       For the wonderful and educational presentation on the High School Referendum.

·       Mrs. Jakubowski, Mrs. Misfeldt, Mr. Gimla, Mr. Knuth and all the teachers, staff and parents who helped with the Music Man Production. Congratulations!

·       The Nesler Family for co-funding the Florentine Opera presentation with the PTO. There will be two presentations the morning of March 14th, 9:30 and 10:30 am. The PTO will fund $150 of the total expenses.

 

B.     Additional Board Meeting: April 8th at 2:30 pm

 

C.    Board Positions and Committee Chairs for next year

·       We will be working on filling positions for next year’s PTO board and Committees

·       E-mails will be going out to current chairs asking if they plan to continue. Please do.

·       Please think about how you can volunteer your time to the Hillside PTO next year

·       We need Chairs for the Kathryn Beich Funraiser!!! If you think you can help, please do so ASAP!!!

·       We also need a Vice-President (or co-VP’s) for next year!!!!

A.    Carnival Update

·       All Chair positions are filled

 

Principal’s Report:  Julie Kremer

·       Congratulations to Mrs. Jakubowski, Mrs. Misfeldt, Mr. Gimla, Mr. Knuth and all the teachers, staff and parents who helped with the Music Man Production. Outstanding Job!

·       Mr. Norm Anderson was invited to work with Elizabeth Burmaster and legislators on the “No Child Left Behind” impact. We are very proud of him and the caliber that this work represents. Congratulations Mr. Anderson.

·       The Early release dates for next school year calendar are posted and parents should be aware of them.

·       Upcoming Spring Break

 

 

Committee Reports:

A.    Current Events:

 

a.     Florentine Opera

·       Friday, March 14th

·       They will present “Little Red’s Most Unusual Day”

·       Two performances: 9:30 and 10:30 AM

·       Parents are welcome

·       Funded by PTO and the Nesler Family

 

b.     Hillside Carnival: Chair: Renate Hoehnen

·       Friday, March 14th4:30-7:30pm

 

                        c.   Carnival Raffle: Chair: Michelle Uczen

·       Raffle Drawing: Thursday, March 13th at 9:30

·       Additional Tickets until March 13th at 9:00

·       Due date for Raffle donations: Wed. March 12th

 

B.     Upcoming Events:

a.     McDonald’s Fundraiser Nights

·       3/19; 5/20

·       McDonald’s at 18695 Bluemound Rd.; 4-8pm

·       10% of sales go to Hillside PTO

·       Have received approximately $550 so far!

 

c.   Dare Graduation

·       Thursday. April 24th @ 1:15pm

·       5th grade teachers and parents are preparing for the event

 

d.   Hillside Hawk Walk and Run: Chair: Jenny Schweinert

·       Sunday, April 27th @ Mitchell Park

·       Registration Flyers went out in Thursday Folders

·       Pledge Sheets can be filled out:  prizes for the top three

·       Working on sponsorships which are due on March 15th

·       We need to talk to students about the pledge sheets; Julie and Valerie will organize talks to the classrooms after the Carnival is over. Also there will be a table set up during parent-teacher conferences.

 

e.     High Interest Day: Chairs: Clare Hubler; Cathy Walgren; Kathy Turco

·       Friday, May 2nd-Kindergarten High Interest Day

·       Friday, May 9th -1st-5th grade High Interest Day

·       If you have an idea or would like to run a workshop, contact one of the chairs

 

f.      5th Grade Event: Chairs: Dawn Brauer, Carol Cobb, Valle Moretti

·       Thursday, June 5th

·       Working on plans

 

 

New Business:

·       Skating Party: possible date to be found out by Norma
