Hillside 2007-2008 PTO Executive Board Meeting

MINUTES

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 @ 2:30pm

Welcome Attendance: Valle Moretti, Dawn Brauer and Norma Perez-Weiner

Approval of Minutes from April 2008

Presidents Report: Valle Moretti

A. Thank you’s:

· Jenny Schweinert, and the Hillside Hawk Walk & Run Committee for a fun and successful event.

· Lisa Henke and Jenny Schweinert for their planning for Teacher Appreciation Week

· Cathy Walgren, Kathy Turco, Clare Hubler, Michelle Uczen, Jenni Jones, and Beth Gossie-Woods for running another successful High Interest Day!

· Brett Pfeifer and his 5^th grade Weblos: Kollin, Kamren, Keaton Pfeifer, Justin Moretti, Joey Baker, Nick Vavrik, Charlie Flynn for building and installing the new shelves for the PTO information area in the front hall of the school.

B. Board Positions and Committee Chairs for next year

· PTO Committee Chair and Board Volunteer forms went out.

· Many positions have been filled

· We are still in need of a Vice-President!!!!!

C. Thank you to all for making this a great year! You have made my job an easy one!

Treasurers Report: Dawn and Bill Brauer

A. Update of budget and financial statement

· The PTO officially made the estimated amount required to start the Playground

· The PTO will invite Jill King to explain how Spirit Wear works

· Dawn will research Target payments

· Valle will call Parent Network to find out about dues they claim we owe

· Executive Committee will decide on budget for the upcoming school year in September, then it will be brought for vote in the following General PTO meeting

A. Current Events:

a. McDonald’s Night

· 5/20

· McDonald’s at 18695 Bluemound Rd.; 4-8pm

· 10% of sales go to Hillside PTO

· Have received $550+ so far!

b. 5^th Grade Event: Chairs: Dawn Brauer, Carol Cobb, Valle Moretti

· Thursday, June 5^th

· The theme is Hillside Idols

· Committee has games, snacks, entertainment and a few surprises planned

c. Hillside Idols Give Back

· The 5^th grade event is including a community support component this year

· On May 10^th many of the 5^th graders went to the Salvation Army and sorted food for their food pantry in Waukesha

· The week of May 19-23 they will be bringing in items and putting together bags for the 5^th graders at Wind Lake Elementary.

d. Field Day

· Tuesday, June 10th

· Volunteers are still needed

B. Completed Events:

a. Hillside Hawk Walk and Run: Chair: Jenny Schweinert

· Surpassed the goal of 500 with 549 total participants

· Event has had great feedback from both Hillside Community and outside community

· Plan to do event next year

· Almost $10,000 was raised from event

b. Skate Party: Norma Weiner

· Held Monday, May 12^th @ Skate Land

c. High Interest Day: Chairs: Clare Hubler; Cathy Walgren; Kathy Turco

· Went well and was well organized

· Students seems to enjoy the afternoon

· New Chairs are already in place for next year.

d. Teacher Appreciation Week: Chairs: Jenny Schweinert; Lisa Henke

· Teachers had lots of goodies supplied by families all week

· Individual students were encouraged to bring in cards, drawings, etc.

e. Dare Graduation

· PTO and 5^th grade parents provided cake, water

· Mayor, Police Officials, D.A. were in attendance

New Business:

v Who puts info in the Brookfield Now for Hillside? We need to request information from Julie Kremer about this and take this as a task for the Public Relations liaison chairperson

v Cleaning out PTO Closet—anyone want to help?

v Installation of 2008-2009 PTO Officers

v SmartBoards is proposed as the next fundraising undertaking of the PTO. This issue is to be brought to the General meeting for vote
