Kiernan Lannon Memorial "Bust Your Hump" Award
Awarded after each day of tournament play

DISCLAIMER: Not an lifesize representation of the award!

Legend tells of a legendary Ultimate player. One who would sacrifice his body at whatever the cost to get at the disc. No matter the opponent, he was often found to be soaring through the air with no regard for his own well being, but only with relentless desire to NEVER let the disc touch the grass. Man passed into myth, and myth into legend, and thus the Kiernan Lannon Memorial Award was born. From then on, the award would be bestowed upon the Marquette player who most exemplified the spirit of Kiernan.

Years later, a man often described as an enigma himself would make a discovery that would change Marquette Ultimate forever. Sean Flannery was walking home at some magical hour of the day, when suddenly he was struck with the inspiration to walk down a dark alley normally outside of his normal course. Once along the forbidden pathway he was again struck with the inspiration from on high to look into a nearby dumpster. It was there that he found a trophy of such elegance and grace that he had little choice but to reach deep into the depths of that dumpster to retrieve it. The golden camel has since been passed down through the generations of Marquette Ultimate players, to be a physical representation of the award earned for "Busting your hump".

However, once the award is earned, it is by no means safe...your Marquette teammates who once were your closest allies, will do all they can to remove the golden camel from your possession.

The rules of the golden camel:

  1. The golden camel must be retained by the player who earned it from the time he earns the award, until the time that someone else is awarded it.
  2. If the camel cannot be presented by the player who previously earned it at the moment it is to be passed on, then that player is due to be subjected to a punishment agreed upon by the captains. The exception to this is if the player who lost possession of the camel wins the award again, he would then have an extended period to attempt to reclaim it.
  3. The following rules explain the safe or un-safe status of award, or when it is legal to take it from its current possessor. The current possessor is either the person who earned the award or the person who stole the award from the awardee.
    1. From the time the camel reaches the fields, until the camel leaves the fields following the conclusion of play that day, it is safe from theft from your teamates. However, if the possessor does not take precautions to hide the camel from the grubby hands of opponents (i.e. keep it in his bag), then the camel is no longer considered safe.
    2. The camel is safe when it is physically contacting the current possessor. This includes all articles of clothing currently being worn by the possessor.
  4. Agreements are allowed, such as those between roomates, but are taken on at the possessors own risk.

The D-Knife, formerly the D-Mug
Awarded after each day of tournament play

DISCLAIMER: Not an lifesize representation of the award!

The D-Knife is quite simply awarded to the player who played the best overall defense of the day.

The Game Disc
Awarded after each tournament

Actual disc may vary...

The game disc is the most prestigous of awards in Marquette Ultimate, for this is an award that any player can earn. This does not simply go to the best player, but to the player who played far and above what is currently expected of that player. This can be given to the rookie who had a breakout tournament, to a mid-level player who was able to raise there game to the next level, or to the crafty veteran who played out of his mind.
