It's been awhile, but spring season is in full swing despite the couple feet of snow and below freezing temperatures here in Milwaukee. The team is looking good, and we're getting ready to play outside in Springfield, MO... let's hope the weather down there is better than up here!

The team is off to an awesome start for the fall semester. The turnouts for practice have been very high with lots of returning plays as well as many new players who are showing great potential! We are planning on participating in 3 (possibly 4) tournaments this fall. As always, we are continuously encouraging new players to join regardless of having any experience. Come on out to practice to have a good time and see what the team is all about!

The Marquette women's ultimate had it's first showing at the regional tournament back in the beginning of May this year. We took 10th place in the tournament... an awesome place for our first time!!

4/29/07

The Marquette women were seeded 4th in the section going into sectionals last weekend. We held our seed at went 3-4 to take 4th and earn a bid to regionals. We also had 16 girls on our roster for the weekend... a record for the team! Next weekend are regionals at Luther College, which will be Marquette women's first showing at regionals!!

3/26/07

High Tide in Georgia was a great spring break! We sent a team of 12 girls and played a total of 8 games. The weather was gorgeous and it was great playing outside for the first time this year. This past weekend Moxie traveled to South Bend, IN for a tournament which brought our game totals to about 18 (give or take) in 2 weeks! We were a little short on the numbers but still played some hot ultimate and had a lot of fun. Hopefully the weather will stay warm for us to practice for sectionals!

The Spring season is off to a great start! The team is pumped up and ready to play. We had our first women's only practice the other night with a record number of 16 girls showing up! Our first tournament will be in Georgia over Spring Break where we can finally play outside without wearing 5 layers of clothes!

The Marquette women made a strong showing at Sectionals this year. With a team of talented women, we went 2-2, beating UW-Eau Claire and Madison-B. Originally seeded 4th in our section, we moved up to third and secured a spot at Regionals. Unfortunately, we were unable to get enough women to compete in the Regional tournament. However, it was a incredibly successful year for the women and we have a very bright future. Next up...enjoying the summer and getting ready for Fall 2006!

In a little over a week, members of the Marquette men's and women's teams will be heading down to Savannah, GA, for a week of Ultimate and relaxing on the beach. As of right now, the women's team is not playing in the tournament; however, we hope to pick up with some ladies down there and cheer on our men's team while soaking up some sun. Have a good spring break!

During the past month or so, Marquette Ultimate has been working on getting new team names. As of this past Friday, our women's ultimate team offically has it's FIRST EVER team name:

MOXIE!

Our women played co-ed with part of our men's team over Halloween weekend at the Hallowinona tournament in Winona, MN. We had gorgeous weather on Saturday and even better costumes ('80s Prom!). We went 3-1 on Saturday. We awoke Sunday to a miserable drizzle, and only played one game, which we lost. But all in all, a fabulously fun weekend of Ultimate, and a great end to the fall season.

Next up....preparing for spring!

Marquette took a women's team to the Fall Out tournament in Champaign, IL over the weekend of Oct 15-16. With the help of a few girls from UWM and Bradley, we were able to go 3-2 on Saturday. On Sunday, we started out slow in our first game, trailing 2-8 at the half. But we got our game faces on and brought the game to 13-13. Unfortunately, we lost on universe point, 13-14. But our drive to win continued in the next game, and we ended the tournament with a 4-3 record.

Next up.....kicking some butt in '80s prom dresses at Hallowinona!
