Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit with a twofold mission:

First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traimatized or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer, "blanketeers".

Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun way for service opportunity for individuals and groups in local communities, for the benifit of children.

Blankets for Haiti Children
Project Linus needs your help making 20,000+ blankets to send to Haiti for the children displaced by the earthquake. Our chapter is pledging 150 blankets to this effort. Please help!
Blankets may be dropped off at any of the below locations by February 20th or may be dropped off on Make A Blanket Day. Please attach a note with your name and e-mail or address and if you would like the blanket to go to Haiti.
Please remember to follow PL guidelines for these blankets and keep in mind the warm climate. ( single layer fleece blanket patterns are available on this site and on the National website )
Thanks for your help. God Bless!

Here is an easy light weight blanket idea:
Take two pieces of flannel ( about 40" X 54" ) Place right sides together. Sew around the edge, leaving some space to turn inside right. After you turn it, flatten and sew around the edge to secure. Kinda like a receiving blanket only bigger.

What kind of blankets does Project Linus need?
Project Linus welcomes blankets of all styles. including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors & materials.

Blankets should be Handmade using NEW materials and must be washable.

Blankets should be of Good Quality and free from contaminates such as mold, mildew, smoke smell and chemicial smells. * Including strong smells from laundry detergents, fabric softeners and dryer sheets. Remember a good number of these blankets are going to children who are VERY ill and we need to do our best to help them get better.
