Events Make A Blanket Day 2009 February 2009 Make A Blanket Day is an annual event set aside for all Project Linus chapters throughout the United States to get together with quilters to make blankets and quilts for children in need. The Chippewa Valley Chapter will not be holding an official event this year. See the Drop Off Sites page for a listing of places to bring your finished blankets.
The Chippewa County Piecemakers’ Quilt Guild held their tenth annual quilt show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 8 at the Chippewa Area Senior Center, 1000 E. Grand Avenue (Hwy. 178). The show included approximately 100 quilts made by area quilters, a quilt challenge, and a quilting boutique. Forty-three quilts were made by the guild during the past year and donated to the Chippewa Valley Area Chapter of Project Linus. There was a raffle quilt made by guild members and given to the senior center and was on display with tickets available for purchase. The Piecemakers’ guild has been meeting the second and fourth Thursday of each month for over 20 years. Each meeting includes showing and sharing of quilting projects and techniques which encourages members to finish their quilts. The quilt show is part of the Pure Water Days festival held each year in Chippewa Falls. The admission to the quilt show was $3.00 and is used to fund the guild’s community service projects.
