BREAKING NEWS FOR 2009-10
The Hammer Youth Challenge Series will no longer be USBC Certified. We are joining other tournament series, such as the: Junior Bowlers Tour in New York/New Jersey (http://pages.prodigy.net/lpezzano/index.html),
the JBT Southwest/West US (http://www.juniorbowlerstour.com),
and the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin Gran Prix tournaments (http://www.wigrandprix.com), that do not agree with the limitations on scholarship award use that SMART has in place, along with the amount of administration fees charged and interest the USBC keeps for itself, and join these tournament series with no longer certifying events with USBC.
All future scholarship awards will be held in trust for the bowlers at Harris Bank, N.A. Each scholarship winner will be able to view their account balance online through www.harrisbank.com, along with receiving a quarterly statement showing the amount of funds in their account mailed to their home.
Bowlers who wish to receive their scholarship award(s) - which will require proof of enrollment to their college/university/trade school - will need to file the "Scholarship Request Form" that will be placed on the website after the August 2009 Tournament
We feel that our new relationship with Harris Bank will provide even more financial benefits to the Hammer Youth Challenge Series bowlers than the SMART program.
UPDATE !!!! - There have been some FALSE RUMORS circulating that bowling in the Hammer Youth Challenge series, or any non-certified tournament, would make you ineligible for USBC Youth certified events or for ANY college bowling. This, of course, is NOT TRUE. As long as we do not break any of their eligibility rules (which we won't), this will not happen.
Almost all your high school bowling club matches and tournaments are not certified and there are many uncertified leagues and tournaments out there. YOU ARE FULLY ABLE to bowl the Hammer Youth Challenge Series as a USBC Youth bowler.
The people spreading these rumors are uneducated in the rules of youth bowling. This is the 4th year of the Hammer Youth Challenge Series and we would never jeopardize any bowler's eligiblity in any way.
If anyone has any questions regarding this matter, feel free to contact us by email at hammerhitsharder@live.com, or pull us aside at a tournament - we'll be happy to make sure that everything is fully understood by our bowlers. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
