JOIN US FOR WORSHIP & S.S. CLASSES AT BMC!
We will meet in the sanctuary of Bethany Memorial Church for worship beginning at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 a.m. We welcome all! Rev. Scott Thayer is the Pastor of Bethany Memorial Church and Chaplain of Bethany College. He, his wife Jeanne, and their son Michael recently moved to Bethany from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We are delighted to have him and his family at BMC.
Mission Statement: Together and with God's help, we pledge to: Core Values: We celebrate the diversity of God's creation as a gift to the human family, and open our celebrations, sacraments, ministry, and membership to all people. We commit to sensitizing ourselves especially to the life experiences and needs of those rejected by the wider community. With joy, we affirm that everyone is a child of God!
- Keep worship around the table of Christ as the heart of what we do as Christians, centering our life together in prayer;
- See in the life, teaching, witness, and example of Christ how we are to reach out in love to our neighbors, inviting all into community through worship, fellowship, work, and play;
- Provide education that inspires Christian living and understanding--so that, together, children and adults can grow in faith and spirituality;
- Treat each other respectfully and gently amid our varied theological, cultural, and political perspectives, trusting in God to be at work in our hearts and minds;
- Foster Christian stewardship as a way of life, inspiring generosity, especially toward those less fortunate than we;
- Comfort those in crisis by providing for their immediate needs and supporting them in their recovery;
- Share our congregation's unique heritage in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) while upholding Campbell's vision of Christian unity in the Ecumenical Church; and,
- Strengthen the historic and living relationship with Bethany College, nurturing future church leaders.
Last year, members and friends of BMC knitted or crocheted 90 hats for premature babies and donated them to the Save the Children Foundation. This year, you are invited to knit or crochet sweaters for refugee children, which will be sent to Guideposts for their Knit for Kids Program.
