Cassie's Cause...
Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in the United States and spans across all ethnicities.* While many cases of breast cancer can be successfully treated, early detection is critical. Unfortunately, mammograms are not affordable to all of those who need them. The CASSIE Fund helps to cover the expenses of such services for those individuals who can not afford them on their own and are not eligible for existing state and federal screening programs. Proceeds from items purchased through Cassie's Cause are donated to the CASSIE Fund, a program at the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center of West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. Everything offered by Cassie's Cause is handmade and items such as jewelry, rose pins, rosaries, lap quilts, and even handpainted notecards and wine glasses are available. Custom orders are easily accommodated; items can also be found at the breast care center.

Merleen Campbell
Noone knows the benefits of mammography better than Merleen Campbell, twice a breast cancer survivor. Merleen handmakes her beautiful rose pins in a rainbow of colors to serve as a reminder of breast cancer awareness and proof that mammography saves lives. Merleen's flowers, "Make a Memory", sell for $15.00 each at the breast care center with all of her profits being donated directly to the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center. Merleen lives in Sutton, West Virginia. In addition to her beautiful flower pins, Merleen is also a hobby photographer.
Jamie Miller
Cassie's Cause started as a hobby project for Jamie, a graduate student who was completing her doctoral degree research at West Virginia University's Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. The items offered through Cassie's Cause received such warm support that the hobby has continued to grow even upon the completion of Jamie's doctoral studies in August 2005. Jamie still resides in Morgantown and works within the region growing biotechnology programs in West Virginia. Jamie's artwork includes beadwork, handmade rosaries (including her token breast cancer ribbon rosary) as well as handpainted and quilted items.
