ARES_Cabell_Cty_Logo2.gifAmateur Radio Emergency Service (A.R.E.S.)

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes. Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL or any other local or national organization, is eligible to apply for membership in ARES. Training may be required or desired to participate fully in ARES. Because ARES is an Amateur Radio service, only licensed radio amateurs are eligible for membership. The possession of emergency-powered equipment is desirable, but is not a requirement for membership.

Cabell County A.R.E.S.® is composed of FCC licensed Amateur Radio operators who have voluntarily registered their capabilities and equipment for emergency public service communications.

The major purpose of the organization is to provide emergency communications within Cabell County, West Virginia as requested. Membership in CCARES is open to all licensed radio amateurs who wish to provide their skills and time during emergency situations in which back-up communications are needed. Any radio amateur who wishes to join CCARES may do so by using the application found on this web-site.

Meetings for CCARES are held periodically in conjunction with the monthly Tri-State Amateur Radio Association (Third Tuesday of each month).
