Something to think about:

“WHO THEN CAN BE SAVED”? (Mk.10:26) How would you answer that question? Well consider how…

    a. Jesus answered it. Cp. Jno.10:9
    b. Peter answered it. Cp. Acts 2:21; 10:35,43; 2 Pet.3:9; etc.
    c. Paul answered it. Cp. Rom.10:13; 1 Tim.2:4; etc.
    d. John answered it. Cp. Rev.22:17
    e. Note how each one sets forth conditions in connection with salvation.

2. Consider answers to questions about the same subject. For example…
    a. Who is in need of salvation? Cp. Rom.3:23; 5:12; 6:23; etc.
    b. Who does God desire to be saved? Cp. Jno.3:16; 1 Tim.2:4;(Note: 2 Pet.3:9 in connection with Acts 17:30,31 and the judgment Mt.25:31-46); etc.
    c. Who did Christ die for, so that they might be saved? Cp. Jno.1:29; 1 Tim.1:15; 1 Jno.2:1,2; etc. (Note again the issue of sin).
    d. Who is the gospel to be preached to, so that they might be saved? Cp. Mk.16:15; Mt.28:18-20; Rom.1:16; etc.
    e. Who is invited to obtain salvation? Cp. Mt.11:28-30; 16:24; etc.

3. The bottom line: You, me, everyone can be saved, if they want to be and if we will meet the conditions of pardon set forth by the Lord.

II. “WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED”? (Acts 16:30; 2:37)
    1. Did you know that that question was never answered by saying, "There is nothing you can do, God has done it all"?

    2. How did Jesus respond to this question? (Jno.3:16; Mk.16:16).
    3. How did Peter answer this question? (Acts 2:37,38)
    4. How did Paul respond to this question? (Acts 16:31ff) Note also what he obeyed (Acts 22:16).
    5. Did you read of any of them writing or saying…
a.“There is nothing you can do, God has done it all”
b.“Faith alone is sufficient to save”, “All you need to do is believe”
    c. “Repeat this prayer after me” (Sinner’s prayer)
    d. “You don’t need to be baptized, baptism is not necessary”

    6. Notice: The word "only" was/is never used by any of them. Cp. Js.2:24,

    7. The bottom line: You must respond the way God said to respond! Cp. Jno.14:6.

III. “HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE NEGLECT… SALVATION”? (Heb.2:3)
    1. The answer is- "We shall not escape" (rhetorical)- Heb.10:24-36; 12:25
    2. I cannot stress enough the importance of faithfulness to God and a serious attitude toward temptation and sin. Cp. 1 Cor.4:2; 1 Pet.5:8; 2 Pet.1:5-11; Rev.2:10; etc.
    3. The doctrine of "once saved, always saved" is not true. Some Christians live as though they believe it is true.
    4. The bottom line: Neither you nor I will escape if we neglect our salvation!

Conclusion:
    1. Who then can be saved? You, me, anyone who wants to be saved.
    2. What must I do to be saved? Cp. Acts 2:14-47; etc.
    3. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? We shall not escape!
    4. Which of these questions have you failed to personally address?
