JAMES E. ZABOLOTNY, SR.
James E. Zabolotny Sr., 73, of Grant Town, passed away Friday (Jan. 13, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1938 in Grant Town, a son of the late Anthony and Agnes Syrieka Zabolotny.
He was a graduate of Fairview High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He served 30 years as a coal miner at Eastern Federal No. 2 Blackville as a preparation plant foreman and was a member of the UMWA of Fairmont. He was a past volunteer fireman and EMT at Grant Town. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his pets, Gizzy and Kitty.
Mr. Zabolotny is survived by one son, James "Bo" Zabolotny of Grant Town; one brother, Val Zabolotny and his wife Rose Anne of Illinois; three sisters, Jo Mazure, Helen Poling and her husband James of Centerville, Ohio, and Babes Koch and her husband John of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Micah Mason of Rivesville, Shelby Carr of Grant Town, and Prezzley and Stormer Buchannon of Harrison County; special nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Wilds of Braxton County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Zabolotny, who passed away in 2009; one daughter, Patricia Ann Carr; two brothers, Walter Zabolotny and Stanley Zabolotny; and one sister, Florence "Tootie" Boyles.
Friends and family may visit Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second and Jasper streets, Rivesville, from 5-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday with Father Steve Joseph officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont.
