Blessings by Mary Dingess Tabor Perry (1915-2011)

My first Blessing is when I arise in the morning, I sit on my porch having my first cup of coffee. I watch Mr. Sun peeping over the horizon; he seems to be sneaking in, because he only shows himself a bit at a time. Finally he shows his whole face, what a Blessing to watch the things that he does before my eyes, watching Mr. Sun doing his daily chores. First, I watch as he dries the dw from the trees and flowers that have fallen during the night. He awakens the animals that were sleeping in the dewey grass. Next, the birds are awakened in the trees, hungry and bumming a crumb of bread. What a blessing to see them light on my banister; they might depend on us for a crumb of bread. Now I have fed the birds, I think I will have another cup of coffee.

Thank You God for our daily blessings, that we sometimes take for granted. We realize where the blessings come from and give you the praise.

I have been saddened for this past week due to the loss of my nephew. He had a long life, even though he battled an incurable disease from early childhood.

When the Church sang, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms", I felt a blessing that I had His arm to lean on.

Thank You God for your blessings and I will not forget to give you the praise.

Now, I think I will have another cup of coffee.
