Rev. Kenneth Hardway

Rev. Kenneth Hardway grew up in the Moundsville First Christian Church, where he was baptized. Kenny first publicly answered his call to ministry during CYF Conference at Bethany College, and later studied there for a year and a half before moving to Huntington and graduating from Marshall University with a Regents Bachelors of Arts degree, with minors in both Sociology and Religious Studies. While at Marshall he married his wife Alishah, and while living in Huntington their son Noah, who is now four, was born.

Kenny served as Youth Minister at Madison Avenue Christian Church in Huntington for four years. The last six months of his time at Madison Avenue, he was the Dr. Fred Warren Ministerial Intern, which carried with it Associate Minister responsibilities with special time allotted to spend with then Senior Minister (now Regional Minister) Rev. Thad Allen, in learning and developing the art of congregational ministry. Kenny has also served the Christian Church in WV as the Tad Fitsimmons Youth Intern for Camps and Conferences, as well as serving as Regional Staff as a Regional Youth Mentor, directing both Chi-Rho and Junior Camps.

Kenny served as the Pastor of Point Pleasant Christian Church in Eminence, Kentucky. He is working on his Masters of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky. Kenny has two and a half years of study under his belt, and his expected graduation date is May of 2011. Some of the accomplishments of this church under Kenny’s nineteen months of ministry include: 8 baptisms, 3 infant dedications, 7 transfers of membership to the church, 4 weddings, 5 funerals, raised $286,000 for a building project, increased participation of both Disciples Women and the Elders in District and Regional activities, a new Young Adult Sunday School class, and more Youth involvement through preparing communion and using every fifth Sunday as Youth Sunday as well as increased activities for the Youth. Kenny is involved in several community boards and groups, and has both directed and counseled Junior Camp, Chi-Rho Camp, and CYF Conference in West Virginia and Kentucky.

The Hardways welcomed their son, Jonah Michael, into the world on December 16, 2009 at Charleston, West Virginia.

Kenny is currently serving as Pastor of First Christian Church, Logan, West Virginia.
