One of the strongest features of First Christian Church, Logan Congregation, is our commitment to maintaining close and personal relationships through lifting one another in prayer. Our church family is filled with prayer warriors who share a deep and abiding love for our immediate and extended church families. And every so often, we know that some of our immediate and extended church family members need a little extra TLC for a variety of different reasons. As an outward demonstration of our inward commitment to our church family, each week in the bulletin the Elders will have a section titled "Weekly Card Shower". It will feature the name of a person from our local or extended family who the Elders ask that we share a little extra love with, in the form of a card or phone call during the week. To make it easy to do, we'll include the mailing address and phone number of the person, so you don't have to look it up or hunt for it. Sending a quick note or making a short call won't take much time, but it can go a long way to helping someone know that their church family is thinking of and loving them - an outward sign of our love for the members of our Church family whom God has blessed us with! This week the Card Shower is for: Barbara (and Bill) Browning, P.O. Box 1559, Logan, WV 25601, 304-946-6230 "Kroger Cares" Gift Card Program

Lord's Supper of Communion The Lord's Supper or Communion is celebrated in weekly worship. It is open to all who are followers of Jesus Christ. The practice of Holy Communion has become the central element of worship within the Disciples tradition. Disciples' observance of the Lord's Supper emanates from the upper room, where Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the living Christ is met and received in the sharing of the bread and the cup, representative of the body and blood of Jesus. The presence of the living Lord is affirmed and he is proclaimed to be the dominant power in our lives. |
The Chalice The chalice symbolizes the central place of communion in worship for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The X-shaped cross of the disciple Andrew is a reminder of the ministry of each person and the importance of evangelism. Congregations and ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are free to use the chalice in publications, web sites and other media. Organizations not affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are asked to obtain permission for the use of the Chalice by contacting: Communication Ministries, P.O. Box 1986, Indianapolis, Indiana 46206, 317-713-2492, news@cm.disciples.org | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
