Like most Christians, we affirm:
* Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God, who offers saving grace to all.
* All persons are God's children, created in God's image, and are loved supremely by God.

Some beliefs and practices usually associated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) include:
*Open Communion. The Lord's Supper ("communion" or "eucharist") is celebrated weekly in worship. It is open to all who believe and who desire to follow Christ. You do not need to be a member of this or any other church to receive this sacrament of God's love.

*Baptism by immersion. In baptism, the old life of self-centeredness is set aside, and a new life of trust in God is made possible. Our congregations practice immersion of persons who publicly profess this new life of trust, although most Disciples congregations accept as members persons who come from other baptismal traditions and who publicly reaffirm their faith.

*The ministry of all believers. Both ordained ministers and lay persons lead worship, nurture spiritual growth and govern the life of the congregation. This provides full expression of God's gifts which are at work in every believer's life.

*Diversity of opinion. Each person within our community is free to determine their own belief, guided by the Bible, prayer and reflection, and the Holy Spirit-which we believe is at work within this community of faith, as well as individual believers. The church desires to be a strength to each person's growth in faith.

*Importance or church unity. All Christians should work together in ministry wherever possible, affirming each other as sisters and brothers in Christ. This ecumenical commitment affirms the real unity of the Church throughout the world, and is lived out in local situations through practical means.
