"CODES"
We are proud to release our 2009 competition band show titled, "CODES" by Gary P. Gilroy. A fusion of morse code and classical themes of the past.
The band ended the 2009 competition season on October 31, at the Tri-State festival hosted by Marshall University. The whole band did a great job, and Raquel Moye took home another 1st-place trophy for best drum major. Way to go!
The band did great at the Black Walnut competition. The show got a lot of comments up in the stands; it didn't look at all like they'd done the first run-through with props just a few hours before!
Here's what the band brought home:
- Auxiliary: 3rd
- Field commander: 3rd
- Field competition: 3rd
- Percussion: 2nd
- 5th overall
- 4th overall music
- 2nd overall marching
- 2nd overall percussion
We are purchasing a Longaberger Cake Basket with a lid and liner to be raffled off. This is a special “Team Spirit” basket that has a red and white trim around the middle of the basket. We’re also looking for some red/white or Hurricane items to put in the basket. If you or your band students are interested in selling raffle tickets, please let Vicki or Lisa know now and we’ll let them sign out ten tickets at a time. Chances will be $1.00 each and half of each ticket sold will go into the student’s account. The drawing will be held at the last home game.
We have a few extra show shirts available: Medium--3 left $10 each, X-Large--4 left $10 each, 2XL--1 left $11, 3XL--1 left $12. Please let Lisa know if you are interested in purchasing any.
