HENRY ROBERT HAUGHT

Henry Robert Haught, 88, of Fairview passed away Thursday (Oct. 15, 2009) at Fairmont General Hospital. Henry was born in Fairview on May 30, 1921, son of the late Martin Luther Haught and Nettie Pearl Darrah Haught.
Henry was a coal miner. He worked for Eastern Association Coal Co., retiring from Grant Town Mine. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater, where he received the Purple Heart Medal. Henry was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ, He loved farming and spending time with his family.
Henry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Maxine Wright Haught; a son and spouse, Terry and Patricia Haught of Fairview; daughter and spouse, Patricia Darlene and Julian "Dusty" Pitman of Fairmont; daughter, Cindy Provins of Fairmont; grandchildren, Robert Haught of Davis and spouse Catrinel Haught of Princeton, N.J.; Tricia Masters and spouse Kevin of Fairmont, James Pitman and spouse Teresa of Fairmont, John Pitman and spouse Sandra of Fairmont, SPC John Provins III of Fairmont, who is currently serving in Iraq with the Army National Guard, and Brandon Provins of Fairmont; great-grandchildren Alex, Abby and Ashley Masters of Fairmont; Jacob, Emily and Cole Pitman of Fairmont; and Matthew Haught of Princeton, N.J. He is also survived by brother-in-law Eugene Utt of Hobe Sound, Fla. (Bob's sister's husband).His in-laws by marriage surviving are brother-in-law Ken Wright of Jacksonburg, brother-in-law and spouse Ray and Dorothy Wright of Fairview, brother-in-law and friend Paul Wright and Ginny of Parkersburg and sister-in-law Dorothy Wildman of Pine Grove; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by a son, SP5 Gary Lee Haught, who died in Vietnam; deceased siblings Myrtle Reed Ammons, Ruby Toothman, Chloe Jones, Dortha Moore, Virginia Shriver, Roy David Haught, Cora Tuttle Wilson, Madalean Utt and Lucille Jordan; and a brother-in-law, Robert Wright.
Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel, Grant and Washington streets, Fairview, today from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Flag-folding ceremony will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council.

AL ACUFF PASSED AWAY

Omer Allen "Al" Acuff, 79, of Fairview, passed away at his residence Saturday (Sept. 5, 2009).Al was born July 3, 1930, in Dundalk, Md., son of the late Omer and Kate Acuff.
Al was retired from Pepsi Corp., where he worked many years as a route salesman. He also worked a short time for Applied Industries. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, and he was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Kay (Lowe) Acuff; three children, Danny and wife Debbie Acuff of Summersville, S.C., Steve Acuff of Lexington, S.C., and Crystal and husband Jack Murphy of Jane Lew; a sister, Agnes Wells of Baltimore, Md.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Chryl and Dwight Conaway and their daughter Amber Conaway; and three grandchildren, Marin, Bryn and Jacob Acuff.
Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, Fairview, from 1 to 8 p.m. today. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

WILSON MOORE PASSED AWAY

Wilson Eugene "Hoss" Moore left this world Monday (April 6, 2009) to meet his heavenly Father while at the Wallace B. Murphy nursing home in Grafton after a long fight with cancer and dementia.He was born to Willie Lee and Arrah Etta Wilson Moore in Belfountain, Ohio, April 22, 1923, but was raised in Daybrook on Day's Run in Monongalia County.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and four sisters, Marjorie Moore (infant), Velva L. (Moore) Tate, Daisy A. (Moore) Harris, Gentha A. (Moore) Clayton.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dora Mae Haught; two children, Kevin L. Moore who is a retired Marion County Deputy Sheriff, and Kerry L. (Moore) and her husband Leonard Darrah; one sister, Wanita M. (Moore) Postlethwait. He has four grandsons, Specialist Adam Darrah who is stationed in Iraq, and Troy Darrah, Kevin J. Moore and Michael L. Moore; and one great-granddaughter, Melissa H. Darrah.
He attended the Conners School with his four sisters. He graduated high school at 16 and joined the CCC and was moved to a camp in Boise, Idaho. On Oct. 4 1942, he married Dora M. (Betty) Haught. On April 1943 he was drafted in the Army was deployed with 15th Army, 142nd Ordinance and sent to the European Theater. After returning he worked for Wall Plaster, Fairmont Machinery as an iron worker was called back to active duty in August 1951 and was sent to Korea where he received the Bronze Star. After returning he went back to iron working until 1959 and in 1960 he and his family moved from Michigan back to West Virginia on a farm and he was hired by the Marion County School Board as a school bus driver. After 11 years he transfered to school maintenance where he retired in 1985. He loved working on his farm with his children and grandchildren, and great-granddaughter harvesting hay, working with cattle, and etc.
Wilson also was a member and Elder in the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 157 for 50 years.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel in Fairview from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. The body will lie in state at the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Evangelist Mark Jones and Evangelist Dick Bartrug officiating burial will follow at the Daybrook Cemetery.Marion County Veterans Council will hold full military rights at graveside and the Masonic Lodge No. 157 will hold a burial service.

ELMER CANFIELD

Elmer L. Canfield, 89, of Fairview, died Sunday (Feb. 15, 2009) at his residence. Elmer was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Tucker County, the son of the late William Martin and Anna Mary Myers Canfield.
Elmer was retired from Bethlehem Coal Co., Barracksville Mine, was a member of Pumpkin Center Church of Christ, veteran of World War II and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Lee Toothman Canfield; one son, Roger Canfield; one daughter and son-in-law; Cora Ann and Ted Tuttle all of Fairview; one brother, Virgil M. Canfield of Fairview; four grandchildren, Brian Keith Canfield and his wife Bonna, Scott Alan Canfield, David Tuttle and his wife Heather and Mark Alan Tuttle; six great-grandchildren, Brian Keith, Brandon Lee, Mathew Scott, Paige Montana, Presley Madison Tuttle and Garrett Lee Kelley.In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by three sisters, Juanita Mackinaw, Mary Herron and Alice Bennington.

VIVIAN THORNE (Herb Tennant's Sister)

Vivian Virginia Thorne, 92, of Days Run Road and formerly of Barrackville died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
Vivian was born January 8, 1917, at Jakes Run, the daughter of the late Elias Tennant and Olea Pearl Park Tennant Lake.
She was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in Barrackville, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to all.
Surviving are one son and his wife, James E. Thorne and his wife Karol of Days Run; grandson James E. Thorne II and his wife Jennifer of Days Run; grandson Ryan Thorne of Morgantown; step-granddaughter Whitney Moore of Days Run; brother Herbert Tennant of Fairview; sister Jeanette Ammons and her husband Joe of Rivesville; sister Jane Jones of Core; brother-in-law, Jack Feley of Daybrook; and several friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Thorne; her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Franklin Sifers; grandson, Franklin Sifers, Jr; and two sisters, Velma Tennant and Lucille Feley.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with the Rev. David Cyphers officiating. Burial will follow in the McCurdysville Cemetery at McCurdysville.

ILENE COTTRELL

Elizabeth Ilene Cottrell, 66, of Robinson Run, Rt. 1, Rivesville passed away Monday (Oct. 27, 2008) at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Elizabeth was born on Woods Run, April 10, 1942, daughter of the late Woodrow P. and Luda Grace Powell Wilson.
Elizabeth was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.
She loved spending time with family and friends. She loved her puppy, Liz.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Stanley Ray Cottrell; a daughter, Kathy Lea Cottrell of Robinson Run, Rt. 1, Rivesville; three grandchildren, Reva Grace Chickerell, Kenneth Stanley “Stan” Townsend and Diann Elizabeth Trusler all of Robinson Run, Rt. 1, Rivesville; also surviving is Amy Gernstl, who has become part of the family; three brothers, Edgar and wife Barbara Wilson of Baxter, Jim and wife Sarah Wilson of Woods Run, Junior and wife Cecelia Wilson of Mannington; and a sister, Karen and husband Matt Canjar of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Kenneth and Barbara Cottrell of Grafton, Leo and Nancy Cottrell of Fairmont; a sister-in-law and her husband, Betty and Marvin Snyder of Robinson Run, Rt. 1, Rivesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

JAMES L. ROBISON

James L. Robison, 87, of Greensburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 19, 1920, on a farm in Barracksville, W.Va., and grew up on a farm in Grant Town, W.Va. He was the son of the late Guy E. and Martha (Yost) Robison.
Jim served in the Army during World War II with the 4th Infantry in Europe and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Greensburg Church of Christ. He was retired from the Overmyer Mould Co. after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Straight and Betty Gump.
Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene (Hall) Robison; sons, Glenn L. Robison and his wife, Gayle, of Jeannette, and Guy L. Robison, of Greensburg; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Robison, of Dubois. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren, Sarah and David, of Jeannette, and Lee and Guy, of Dubois. Also surviving are two brothers, Etley Robison, of Fairview, W.Va., and Carl Robison and his wife, Lula Mae, of Grant Town, W.Va.; and one sister, Emalene Darrah and her husband, Chester, of Grant Town; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Evangelist Jeff Berkey officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery. MARY STARKEY

Mary Starkey, 86, of Fairview, died Tuesday (Aug. 19, 2008) at her residence. Mary was born July 20, 1922, in Fairview, the daughter of the late Carley “Daddy” and Bessie Gump Parker.
Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by her husband, Boyd; one daughter, Connie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Julia and Jeff and Lela Florine Starkey; one sister, Doris Darrah, all of Fairview; eight grandchildren, Roger “Mole” Starkey Jr., Jody, Steven and Matthew Starkey, Kathy McCoy, Cindy Lowe, Bobbi McDonough and Heather Lewis; and one great-grandson, Owen Starkey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Roger Lee; and one daughter, Tina Louise Starkey; one brother, John Parker; three sisters, Belendine Haught, Martha Pyles and Bonnie Blosser.

DONNIE MAE ROBERTS

Donnie Mae “Cookie Lady” Roberts, 87, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday (May 27, 2008) at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born July 14, 1920, in Fairview, a daughter of the late Elsworth and Clarissa Sypult Parker.
Donnie Mae enjoyed her family, baking, quilting, county music and reading her Bible. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a very faithful member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ Fairview.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters; Frank Roberts, of Fairview, John Roberts and wife Judy, of Fairview, Jim Roberts and wife Coleen, of Michigan, Kyle Roberts and wife Debbie, of Bruceton Mills; Sarah Jean Lemasters and Donnie Kay Roberts, both of Fairview; grandchildren Mike Roberts, Dawn Renie Dawson, Christina Roberts, Kenneth Inness, Tina Marie Roberts, James Roberts, Shane Roberts, Rachael Bennson, Melony Sue McGinnis, Kyle Andrew Roberts, Dan Lewis Roberts, Jason Charles Roberts, Andrea Lemasters; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Donnie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Andrew Roberts; two daughters, Allie Roberts and Ora Sharon Inness; a brother, Ralph Parker; and two sisters, Hazel Cousins and Nellie Foley.

MARY ROBISON STRAIGHT

Mary Robison Straight, 89, of Stephenson, Va., died on Thursday (May 22, 2008) in Front Royal, Va.She was born May 16, 1919, in Barrackville, a daughter of the late Guy E. and Martha (Yost) Robinson.
She was a teacher for the Marion County Board of Education in the public school system.She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She married Fay M. “Pete” Straight on June, 1945 in Fairview. Pete passed away Sept. 1, 1996.
Survivors include: three daughters, Janet S. Dye of Oakton, Va., Karen S. Blosser of Fairmont, Ann S. Dillard of Hyattsville, Md.; one sister, Emalene R. “Peg” Darrah of Grant Town; three brothers, James L. Robison of Greensburg, Pa., Carl E. Robison of Grant Town, Etley P. Robison of Fairview; and three grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Betty R. Gump.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday in the Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, Va. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Southside Church of Christ, Winchester, Va. with the Rev. Warren Kenney officiating. SHARON (ROBERTS) INNESS

Ora Sharon Inness, 69, formerly of Fairview and East View Unity Apartments passed away Friday (April 11, 2008) at Wishing Well Health Center. Ora was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Fairview, daughter of Donnie Mae (Parker) Roberts of Fairview and the late Elias Andrew Roberts.
Ora was a former employee of Fairview Library and she started the East View Unity Apartments Library and the Wishing Well Health Center Library. She enjoyed singing, was very active in country music and was in several singing groups.
She was a member of Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.
In addition to her mother, Ora is survived by a son, Kenneth Andrew Inness and his wife Nina of Philadelphia, Pa.; four brothers, Frank Roberts of Fairview, John Roberts and wife Judy of Fairview, Jim Roberts and wife Coleen of Michigan, Kyle Roberts and wife Debbie of Bruceton Mills; two sisters, Sarah Jean Lemasters of Fairview, Donnie Kay Roberts of Fairview; niece, Andrea Elaine Lemasters; several other nieces and nephews; and her fiancé’, James Comas and his family.
In addition to her father, Ora was preceded in death by a sister, Allie Roberts.
The family would like to thank Marion County Hospice, especially Shelia and Wishing Well Health Center for the care they gave Ora.
Ora requested that there be no funeral home visitation or service. Ora chose cremation as her final method of disposition. Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, Fairview is in charge of arrangements.

SHINE TOOTHMAN

Walden Edwin (Shine) Toothman born Nov. 28, 1924, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday (April 10, 2008) in his home.
Shine was employed at Fed. No. 1 mine as a hoist operator and retired from Consol Loveridge mine No. 22.
He was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.
He was the son of the late Harry and Autun Toothman of Fairview.Shine is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josephine whom he married Dec. 13, 1947. They have five children, Vanessa and Larry Bishop of Fairview, Jewel and Albert Wilson of Winchester, Va., Crystal Toothman (deceased), Kim and Steve Goff of Lost Creek and Buck and Shelly Toothman of Fairview; 11 grandchildren, Rick Floyd, Ryan Bishop, Stephanie and Steven Wilson, Michael, Leah and Jamie Stackhouse, Rachel and Jimmy Goff, Cassidy and Tanner Toothman; one great-grandchild, Alexia Wilson; and two sisters, Patricia Lake of Fairview and Lila Lee Canfield and husband Elmer of Fairview.
Pallbearers will be Rick Floyd, Ryan Bishop, Michael Stackhouse, Steven Wilson, Larry Floyd and Larry Bishop.
Sister Ruthlene precedes Shine in death.

Madalyn Wyer

Madalyn Wyer, 83, of Fairview passed away Wednesday (Feb. 13, 2008) at her residence.She was born Dec. 27, 1924, at Pumpkin Center, daughter of the late Dewey and Ora Ammons Gump.

Madalyn was a member of Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Gary Wyer at home; a brother, Noland Gump of Hyattsville, Md.; two nieces, Susan and her husband David Regesture and Alice Gump; and two great-nieces, Laura and Emily Regesture.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Wyer; and two sons, Richard Eugene and Nathan Gale Wyer.

Following Madalyn’s instructions, she was cremated. Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel Fairview is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Lynn Tennant (Herb Tennant's daughter)

Barbara Lynn Tennant, 55, of Fairview, passed away Saturday (Jan. 26, 2008) at Fairmont General Hospital.She was born July 10, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Herbert R. Tennant of Fairview and the late Nedra Olive Tennant.

Barbara was a graduate of Fairview High School Class of 1970 and a graduate of West Virginia Business College Class of 1972. She was one of the first women coal miners in West Virginia. She worked at Barrackville Mine, Martinka Mine and Enlow Fork Coal Mine. She loved arts and crafts and was a former employee of the Arts and Crafts Store in Fairmont.

She was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ.

In addition to her father, she is survived by two sisters and two brother-in-laws, Julia and Mike Starkey of Jakes Run and Rebecca and Roger Sine of McSherrytown, Pa.; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Lori Tennant of Mooresville; a niece, Elizabeth Tennant; nephews, David Tennant, Robert and Joseph Sine, Steve Starkey; Matt and wife Carmen Starkey; and numerous friends and children who knew her by Aunt Barb.

Dale Conaway

Dale D. Conaway, 78, of Elizabeth, W.Va., died Oct. 6, 2007, at his residence. He was born at Fairview, W.Va., in Marion County, a son of the late Willis P. and Mary R. Conaway. He was a 1946 graduate of Fairview High School.
