"Reflections" Winter Guard

"Reflections" Winter Guard is an Independent, competitive performing arts organization made up of young people ranging in ages from 14-22. These performers are current high school students, college students and recent high school graduates. "Reflections" exists to offer young people a quality educational and performance experience, which in turn helps them to develop into culturally enriched, caring, motivated, responsible, and goal oriented adults. These lessons are learned through an activity in which there is a blending of the arts and athletics called winter guard.

Winter guard utilizes the flags, rifles, sabers and dance traditionally associated with marching bands and drum corps and puts them in an indoor setting. This activity combines the beauty and pageantry of dance, the drama of theater, and the precision of marching band into one production.

"Reflections" Winter Guard participates in the Tournament of Bands/Tournament Indoor Association. Founded in 1972 by the National Judges Association, Tournament of Bands is a non-profit educational organization with over 400 active school and independent members. Tournament of Bands/Tournament Indoor Association provides performance opportunities in marching band, indoor guard, majorette, percussion, dance team and jazz band. Tournament of Bands sanctions approximately 100 fall band events, and over 100 indoor events each year. Currently, the Tournament of Bands/Tournament Indoor Association is divided into 13 geographic chapters that encompass 9 states - Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

It is the goal of "Reflections" to build the foundation for growth of the color guard sport of the arts in West Virginia, making us the leader in innovation for the state.
